First class passenger 'hit with wine bottles' to subdue him as flight is forced to return to US

A first class passenger has been accused assaulting an attendant on a Delta Airlines flight from Seattle to Beijing, and reportedly had to be subdued using wine bottles to hit him on the head.

The plane turned round and returned to Seattle after the 23-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was said to have tried to open an emergency exit door 45 minuted into the journey.

After an attendant tried to stop him he reportedly threw a punch.

Another passenger told KIRO 7 News: "They broke two bottles of wine on his head. I tried to choke him and he just threw me off like a rag doll."

Passengers helped restrain the man until the plane landed, said Perry Cooper, a spokesman for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

First class is just not what it used to be.

There’s no way for a person to open a door while a plane is pressurized in flight. Even hopped up on coke or whatever.

Shoulda just for kicks let him wear himself out, videotaped the entire thing, then beat the crap out of him.

After he destroyed the two bottles of wine with his head he is lucky they didn’t cut his throat.

"There’s no way for a person to open a door while a plane is pressurized in flight"

Let's do some quick math, if that doesn't upset common-core too much:

Air pressure at 35,000 feet: 3.7 pounds per square inch.
Air pressure at 7,000 ft cabin pressure: 10.2 pounds per square inch.
Pressure differential: 6.5 pounds per square inch
Approximate cabin door size: 72x30 inches, = 2,160 square inches.
Pressure required to open door: 14,040 pounds.

He's going to need a LOT of help to get that door open.

Apparently, he just needed a couple bottles of wine and some decompression time.

So, yer sayin'...

It would take 7000 200lb men pulling on that door to get it open.

Too bad he failed at letting himself exit the plane.

He wanted to be like the guy who “dropped out” in Goldfinger?

Logically, I know that. No unaided human would have the strength to open that door while in flight. Still, it’s deeply disturbing to see someone trying to make that happen.
Air travel already seems kind of magical to begin with.
Yes, it’s true, I’m not an engineer, mathmatician or mechanic. How did you guess?

You are also assuming the person is trying to open the door the correct way. :)

Hey if they are trying to open the door at all, you have to consider they may be pulling when they should be pushing.

Didnt they do this on episode of CSI...?

Got off lucky, year before 911, on Southwest Airlines,

suffocation...

Off by a factor of 100. It would take 7000 2lb. men to open the door.

Actually, you do have to initially pull the door in before it will then hinge out. The cabin pressure forces it closed at altitude by design.

I like that the punk shouted, “Don’t you know who I am!” while he was traveling on a Delta employee family pass for the last time in his young life.

A 23 year old in first class?

Lets make some logical guesses.
I’ll say a trustifarian, and agree with the bath salts mentioned above.
