From what I have read there weren’t any set colors back then. Some networks made blue the color of the incumbant party but it wasn’t written in stone. That is how the colors for the 2000 election were done. The problem is those colors for the 2000 election are now ingrained and for the moment seem unchanging.

That is not a pantsuit and what Hillary wore is not a pantsuit. Business dress for ladies is a skirt and matching jacket with blouse. You can get by with dress pants, but they must MATCH. It would be like one of the men in the photo wearing a polo shirt and khakis.
Wasn't an analogy. I wasn't suggesting Trump was put near the end because of low popularity or poll numbers. It was Merkel trying to belittle Trump, or at least that was my initial thought.

No. In military maps and graphics, red was the Russian/Soviet armies or navies, blue was traditionally US or allied forces with the US.

I noticed the same thing. Looks like a few were included for affirmative action purpose.
In the photo with Trump shaking hands with Putin, I was reminded of what a tall and large (not in a bad way) person that Trump is. He made Putin look like a dwarf.
In this photo, I just thought his place in the group just had to do logistics to accommodate his large frame in the photo. Most other places and he would have been blocking the view.
