Western European efforts to isolate President Trump for rejecting the Paris climate change agreement appear to be faltering as leaders gather for a summit meeting in Hamburg, Germany, at the end of the week.
The gulf between Mr. Trumps worldview and that of most European leaders on topics from trade to immigration will be on display in the coming days. But nowhere is the difference as stark as it is on climate change, which Mr. Trump has mocked as a hoax.
In announcing last month that the United States would withdraw from the Paris agreement, the president portrayed the pact signed by 194 nations to cut planet-warming emissions as a bad deal for America.
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has cast the agenda of the Group of 20 summit meeting as a stark contrast to Mr. Trumps America First approach, particularly on climate change. She has called the Paris accord irreversible, and diplomats have expressed hope that the 19 other countries would make it clear that their support is unwavering. Environmental activists, hoping to highlight Americas status as an outlier, also are pushing hard for a united front against Mr. Trump.

Germany don’t like us, they don’t need the money the troops and dependents are dropping in Germany...
Time for a $2 payday.
ICYDK-— Pay the troops with $2.00 bills and flood the areas surrounding the base(s) with them.
Gives the PTB the picture of where the REAL money comes from.
Poland would be a good place to send our military to, I am sure it would welcome it with open arms.
Merkel’s vision—drain your treasury by pumping billions into the “Global Warming” confidence game while draining your treasury by opening your borders to millions of “immigrants”.
Any national leader that buys into that is an enemy of their citizens.
Whatever the hell THAT means.
Maybe it's something akin to a thousand year reich.
I'm sure they'll be very receptive toward our drag queen trannies.
Great idea!
Move them to Poland. It’s closer to the front.
So who are the allies? Sorry but I won’t click on a NYT link.
Don’t know if I’d call them allies but......
“In recent days, however, those aiming to isolate the United States on climate issues have softened their language to say they hope an overwhelming majority embrace the Paris agreement. Saudi Arabia has indicated it is unlikely to climb on board and Russia, Turkey and Indonesia are sending mixed signals about how forcefully they will declare their support for the Paris deal.”
That was a dumb remark.
