The international chemical weapons watchdog confirmed Friday that sarin gas was used in the deadly April attack on a Syria town that left more than 80 people dead.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said it deployed a team within 24 hours to collect samples, attend autopsies and interview witnesses. Due to security risks, the team was not able to be on the ground in the Khan Shaykhun area where the attack took place, but traveled to a "neighboring country" to conduct its work.

We and our allies have agents on the ground and in the Syrian government.

That said, errors are always possible.

********
There are folks in the USA who see it as their mission to bring down Assad. They are itching for any excuse. Hard evidence analyzed by an impartial group is not sought. All they need are photos that prove nothing and statements from Israelis.

No prob. I seem to be defensive about the President and first family lately from all the crap they are getting in the news.

Was chatting with a good friend yesterday and she was bitching about Trump's twitter feed.

Sheesh.

“We and our allies have agents... “
*****
Hearsay statements like that are not good enough to justify attacking a non-ISIS government that has not attacked us or any of our allied.

Eric Trump Says Syria Strike Was Swayed By ‘Heartbroken’ Ivanka

“Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence,” Eric Trump said, speaking with the newspaper at Trump Turnberry golf resort in Ayrshire, Scotland. “I’m sure she said, ‘Listen, this is horrible stuff.’ My father will act in times like that.”

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked about Ivanka at the daily press briefing and said, “There’s no question Ivanka and others weighed in to him” after seeing horrific pictures of the victims of the chemical attack.

The OPCW is a UN-associated organization based at the Hague, Netherlands.

Can anyone give me a reason to trust this outfit?

I wouldn't say that the intelligence reports given to the President are hearsay statements.

And furthermore, we have no idea what he was actually told.

Trump isn't perfect, but considering his team (Mattis, Tillerson, and McMaster)...I trust them to do the right thing.

The OPCW did not confirm Sarin gas was used, it said ‘Sarin or sarin-like’ chemicals, which should be a big clue that they have no idea what was used.

Supposedly unsafe for inspectors to visit Khan Sheikhoun, and it was not politically correct to visit the Shayrat airfield, so they go to Turkey to inspect some unidentified corpses.

There is no reason for the Syrian government to resort to chemical weapons when they’re winning the ground war, and there’s plenty of reason for regime opponents to stage a false flag to try to draw the United States into a full scale invasion.

It makes me sad to see the Trump administration either falling for or perpetrating this kind of cynical deep state bullshit.
