CNN's Clarissa Ward, a foreign correspondent, served as guest co-host on Wednesday's broadcast of CNN's News Day. Ward fretted "people" in war zones have been "emboldened" by President Trump's "declaration of war on the media." Ward, expressing concern for members of the media in dangerous areas of the world, said to guest Chris Cillizza, 'I can only imagine what a person like you is dealing with. At what point does this become reckless or irresponsible?'
It should be noted Chris Cillizza is a Washington-based political correspondent and commentator.
Playboy White House correspondent Brian Karem, who has received new-found fame after his exchange with White House deputy spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders at Tuesday's press briefing, said Ward is "absolutely right" and talked about the trial and tribulations of reporters who have been jailed and even killed.
"Our newspapers after Donald Trump's election, we've gotten threats from both the far left and the far right," Karem said. "They are emboldened, it is dangerous, and the fact of the matter is, it is insulting to the memory of the people who have given their lives for the cause for providing information to the public to then be told you are fake media, you do not matter, and what you're doing is false."

Good, I want them scared to death.
I wish this were the truth. These scumbags don’t deserve to be safe.
You fellas started it a LONG time ago.
The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.
If AT&T doesn’t unload this crap property, unload your AT&T subscription.
Cilliza was the Washington Post’s “Style” section smear artist using a gossipy style to attack conservatives.
As for Clarissa: Reporters are almost always targets of the bad guys. Just look at how many were gunned down by the Communists in Saigon during the Tet Offensive.
Sawada and Frosch were deliberately killed by either the North Vietnamese/VC or Khmer Rouge. I talked to the Minneapolis Tribune correspondent who found their bodies and brought them bad to Phnom Penh. If he had taken the fork in the road that they had, he too would have been executed.
Three other somewhat freelance journalists, including the son of Earle Flynn (Sean), were captured by the communists, possibly tortured, and then executed.
Other leftist journalists captured in Cambodia by the VC/NVA were kept for propaganda tours and later released. I knew one of them.
I joined fellow journalists in Cambodia signing a petition to Hanoi asking for the release a “Japanese” journalist captured in Cambodia. He was actually a South Korean reporter who would have been tortured and killed immediately if the reds found out what country he was really from.
I don’t believe they ever found his body.
In the Middle East, Islamic Jihadists will kill anyone in their sights, as will Assad’s forces/Iranian forces in Syria, Hamas in Israel/Palestinian ruled areas, and Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy, in Lebanon.
Putin kills journalists for fun all over the world, and gets away with it.
The Cubans in Nicaragua killed Peter Bertie, deliberately, with a helicopter rocket in about 1985 or 87.
Narcotics traffickers/terrorists in Mexico kill journalists for just being journalists, as well as for their incredibly brave reporting on the drug cartels.
Just because Trump is President doesn’t mean that journalists are being targeted for death. It isn’t conservatives who are killing them. It is the above, who CNN often ignore when they want to score points against conservatives and the administration.
Maybe, if CNN was to try telling the truth and be more accurate in their reporting, they wouldn’t be so hated by a pissed off, fed-up America.
Actually, for centuries. Quoth Jefferson:
"The most effectual engines for [pacifying a nation] are the public papers... [A despotic] government always [keeps] a kind of standing army of newswriters who, without any regard to truth or to what should be like truth, [invent] and put into the papers whatever might serve the ministers. This suffices with the mass of the people who have no means of distinguishing the false from the true paragraphs of a newspaper." --Thomas Jefferson to G. K. van Hogendorp, Oct. 13, 1785. (*) ME 5:181, Papers 8:632
"I deplore... the putrid state into which our newspapers have passed and the malignity, the vulgarity, and mendacious spirit of those who write for them... These ordures are rapidly depraving the public taste and lessening its relish for sound food. As vehicles of information and a curb on our funtionaries, they have rendered themselves useless by forfeiting all title to belief... This has, in a great degree, been produced by the violence and malignity of party spirit." --Thomas Jefferson to Walter Jones, 1814. ME 14:46
"Our printers raven on the agonies of their victims, as wolves do on the blood of the lamb." --Thomas Jefferson to James Monroe, 1811. ME 13:59
"From forty years' experience of the wretched guess-work of the newspapers of what is not done in open daylight, and of their falsehood even as to that, I rarely think them worth reading, and almost never worth notice." --Thomas Jefferson to James Monroe, 1816. ME 14:430
"Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. The real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knowledge with the lies of the day." --Thomas Jefferson to John Norvell, 1807. ME 11:224
"As for what is not true, you will always find abundance in the newspapers." --Thomas Jefferson to Barnabas Bidwell, 1806. ME 11:118
"Advertisements... contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper." --Thomas Jefferson to Nathaniel Macon, 1819. ME 15:179
"The press is impotent when it abandons itself to falsehood." --Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Seymour, 1807.
Run and hide, you libhole demonicrat media goons.
Run and hide.
Yup, these pressholes are conveniently ignoring the beheadings and rapes of journalists in the middle east durung the obama reign.
After several generations of news media abusing everything most average Americans hold dear, they have to deal with a little pushback and they cry..
For the first time in generations, someone is fighting the press.
Not disagreeing with, not arguing with, but fighting.
They have been the holy priesthood for so long they didn’t think they were mortal. Now they see that their shining edifices are really just glass.
I love listening to this but but the 1st Amendment crap.
I don’t expect DJT to let up. The press declared war on him in 2011 at the WH correspondents dinner, where obama and the press insulted him and laughed gleefully. I think he is exacting his payback on ALL parties in a calculated strategy. There are a lot of offenders left to topple.
And yet they blame the terror attack on GOP congressmen on.. Trump.
It is getting interesting.
We despised and did not trust you long before Trump came along.
The difference NOW is that we have an Alpha-Male who won’t coddle you and your bullspit...
Do tell, Ward. How is this "emboldenment" manifesting itself?
