Mexico filed an affidavit Monday in support of a lawsuit against the implementation of a Texas law to punish sanctuary cities and allow police officers to inquire about the immigration status of someone they have arrested or detained.
The Mexican government said in a statement that the law could increase racial discrimination and create an environment of persecution.
The statement said that the number of calls to the center for information and assistance for Mexicans in Texas in May and June increased 678 percent compared to the year prior. This is reflexive of the uncertainty and anguish that the Mexican community in Texas has felt due to the law.
Texas Senate Bill 4 punishes local officials that dont comply with federal immigration detainers. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who signed the bill into law in May, said this could lead to sheriffs of sanctuary cities being in the same jail with the criminals they are trying to protect.
The law doesnt mandate that local law enforcement ask about the immigration status of someone they have arrested or detained but just gives them the permission to do so.
The law is currently being sued by cities in Texas. The DOJ filed a statement of interest last week supporting Texas.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement: The Department of Justice fully supports Texass effort and is participating in this lawsuit because of the strong federal interest in facilitating the state and local cooperation that is critical in enforcing our nations immigration laws.
How does Mexico have any standing to do that? Hope the complaint is dismissed and that they are fined for filing a frivlous lawsuit.
Mexico does not grant these “rights” to illegal immigrants. Make them and their citizens live by their own standards. US citizens cannot illegally travel to Mexico and it is nearly impossible to work there. I don’t know if it is still like this, but it used to be illegal for foreigners to own property in Mexico.
They have some gonads to do this. Trump should send it back noted GFY
It’s time to start closing Mexican consulates. Lots and lots of them.

Trumps reply, NUTS
Put the BORDER WALL on fast track!

They have no standing ....... until a liberal American judge gets involved.
I do not know International Law but a foreign power should have no standing in domestic issues.
Proof positive of the value of measures against so-called sanctuary cities.
Faw Q Mehi Co. You “send back them” illegal immigrants from your own southern border and do not permit foreign nationals to protest in your streets.
Get the F outta here.

Piss on Mexico.
These bastards are asking for it. Mexico need to stay out of the U.S. taxpayers’ wallets.
Mexico is like a flea floating down river on his back with an erection yelling “raise the bridge, I’m coming through!” What an absolutely despicable $hit hole of a country, if you can even call it that. We should have invaded Mexico 50 years ago and sent the White Spaniards packing. Our border with Mexico is second only to the DMZ in Korea as a consequence.
Trump should call Mexico’s ambassador to the White House and give them a cease and desist warning, else the border will close. Maybe close it for 24-hours just as a brief demonstration. Mexico needs to butt out of our affairs, instead should make plans to receive home its citizens.
*...create an environment of persecution...*
Mexico badly misspelled one word...Should read “prosecution”...
¡me cago en lo que diga todos de mejico!
They have standing because of decades of liberal infiltration into our court system by activist judges and their minions. Not saying it’s right, but it’s a fact
The wall just got ten feet higher.
let’s crowd fund that MoFo and get going.
