He’s going to do what most politicians in MS do, no matter who they are-wheel and deal to put money in his own pocket. He may blow a lot of hot air for wider consumption, but our governor will never allow Jackson to become a “sanctuary city”-that’s one of the few things he’s good for, he’s strictly against illegal moochers-and also, MS is hardly a welfare moocher type’s top target for prime mooching. Also, the Jackson blacks wouldn’t be too opento sharing, they don’t have much as it is. That’s why he danced around that question.

Jackson will become the South’s version of Detroit... or Uganda.

I thought Haley Barbour was the "boss" of Mississippi. At least it seemed that way during the McDaniel/Cochran Senate race in 2014.

Is Barbour okay with this? How about Trent Lott?

Jackson has for some years now been a dump, and has had massive white flight.

Jackson has already been written off, long ago. It’s a symbolic victory, a bone thrown, not substantial.

He can do anything e damn well pleases. The feds are not going to bother him, nor will the State. He is a protected species from every point on the compass.

2016 Jackson MS was rated the 6th in the US for per capita homicide.
Horrible, especially considering that generally Mississippi folks are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

It’s not important enough, to become a Detroit. And the rest of the state is content to let it lie in its own bed, while we get on with life.

When I was in high school, there was an influx of Chicago folks returning to the South. That has continued. They want a whole state. Then the Southeast.
