you’ve got to think all the people who flew in to attend the funeral will want to sue to recoup lost expenses for a fake funeral.

This is all part of the new trend in California of Pre-Paid Funerals.

Similar situation just happened in Alaska. Family notified their loved one was dead. But returned property and dead body didn’t match the family member. Turns out the family member really was dead, but the family got the wrong body.

I hope they found the real body and the family was able to give him a funeral

There was a story in the news a few years ago about the wrong body being buried in a grave at Arlington National Cemetery. And it happened more than once!

Outrageous.

I have a friend of a friend in the coroner’s office. Just sent the article link in an email to see if I can get the inside scoop.

Trippy story. A real drag for the family, other than finding out their loved one is still alive.

“”I hope they found the real body and the family was able to give him a funeral””

The REAL body WAS found but the problem remains - whose body was it?

Provided the deceased had living relatives, I think they will find out

I remember something about a big Clinton supporter that donated a lot of money to William Jefferson Clinton being buried at Arlington National Cemetery. They had to take him out because he did not qualify

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Larry_Lawrence

Lawrence died at age 69 in Bern, Switzerland on January 9, 1996. He had suffered from leukemia and dyscrasia, a blood disorder.[2] Richard Holbrooke, assistant secretary of state, wrote a letter praising Lawrence and requesting burial for him at Arlington National Cemetery. This was granted by Army Secretary Togo D. West, Jr. and the waiver request was approved by the Arlington superintendent.[10]
Questions were raised in 1997 about the life of Lawrence, and President Clinton ordered an investigation into whether

Lawrence had lied about his military service in World War II. Congressional investigators searched military records and could not corroborate Lawrence’s claims of wartime service in the Merchant Marine, or his alleged rank of “Seaman, First Class” or presence during the torpedoing of the ship SS Horace Bushnell.[10][5] On December 12, 1997, at the request of Lawrence’s widow, his body was disinterred and brought to California.[3][5] He was then buried in the El Camino Memorial Park, Sorrento Valley, San Diego[11]

There was a scandal some years ago about the bodies of soldiers being buried in the wrong graves. I don’t remember the particulars, but I believe these men died in combat during the Iraq War.

I believe the Clinton big money donor and supporter you’re thinking of was Bernard Schwartz, who at one time was the head honcho at Loral Corporation.

When the Chinese were having trouble launching their communications satellites into space. Clinton allowed Loral Corporation to sell the Chinese the software to make the trajectory of their rockets more accurate.

Of course, this technology also made the Chinese ICBM’s more accurate in the event of war. Way to go, Billy Clinton. He should have been charged with treason.

As for Bernard Schwartz, when he died he was interned at Arlington, but his body was exhumed when it was determined that he did not qualify for burial at Arlington.

Do you know if Bernard Shwartz, formerly of Loral, is still alive? I’ve seen stuff on the internet that Schwartz, born in 1925, is 91 years old and still kicking.

I could have sworn he was the Clinton supporter interned at Arlington and then booted out (per my post 33).

Anyone know?

I seem to recall reading about it here in FR

Found out who the Bill Clinton / democrat donor was.

It was M. Larry Lawrence, who was the U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland at the time of his death.

There was a political uproar that came to a head in December, 1997 when his widow asked that Lawrence be exhumed from Arlington and his remains moved elsewhere.

The democrat donor was believed to have served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, but this was not true; no record of his service could be found.

Clinton gave him a waiver because he was an ambassador at the time of his death, but Republicans accused Clinton of giving gravesites at Arlington to democrat donors.

That’s when the widow of Larry Lawrence stepped in and asked that her husband’s body be moved.

Update on this story from an insider who sent me the following in an email:

One guy showed up at the Coroners and demanded to see evidence that his brother’s body was who they said. He wanted DNA. [friend of friend] said they showed him photos of the guy dead and the guy was convinced just from recognizing the face.
Also, that family is planning on suing . They contacted an attorney before even contacting the Coroner. So they had plans for the suit already.
