This doesn’t make sense. Why would a Muslim terror group alienate itself from all of Islam by attacking the holiest place in all of Islam?
Pardon me but it smells like a false flag and I’ll just betcha’ that the Saudis are going to blame Qatar for this and use it as a reason to go to war against them.
It’s not the first time.
It’s hugely humiliating for the Saudi Royals, the official “ protectors of the two Mosques”.

The saudi’s have destroyed the place and turned it into Holly Roller city to bring in the crowds.
Mecca is no stranger to attacks. The one I recall happened in 1979 which left hundreds dead and injured.

As one that has delt with the arabs for many years I find this story inline with the way they think.

ISIS would attack Mecca or Medina to humiliate the Saudi regime. It makes them look weak and ineffective.

I’m inclined to agree with them on that. LOL
But not in their own eyes! That's a significant point, I submit.
The kabba is a strange story. I did a web search on the whole matter not long ago.
The most significant point to me was it’s orign. Apparently this rock was holy to some ( necessarily ) pre-Islamic group, and they were at an impasse as to who would have the honor of installing it in some temple.
So, the factions agreed to assign the task to the first stranger to approach the temple. This just happened to be ... yeah you got it ... Muhammed.
It’s a perfect story.
As I understand it, the Saudi royal family is hated by many Arabs and many Muslims; in some cases, this hatred is a white-hot passion. I think it has something to do with the Sunni-Shia conflict, but there may be other reasons too.
Of course, it could also be a false-flag op, or the story could be BS, a casus belli fabricated by SA. Impossible to know.
What I do know is that it's hard to imagine a fate more grim than to be captured in Saudi Arabia and accused of trying to blow up the Grand Mosque.
That rock was stolen for about 20 years, c. 930 and kept in Bahrain IIRC. Folks thinking we can go Enders Game on them, wipe out Mecca and end Islam in one fell strike need to study what happened back then carefully.
Notice how we cut back hostilities during Ramadan?
They use Ramadan as an excuse to kill other Islamic followers.
They use it as an excuse to attack the West also.
Of course, you have no clue what you think you know
I have no idea who to root for in this situation. It may be the only time that I can possibly side with the terrorists
