May I offer a vote for 9mm in your debate? Your options with 9mm are infinite. Every possible handgun model comes in a 9 version. The current trend for compact carry pistols like the M&P Shield or Glock 43 can be easily purchased at great prices in 9mm. Numerous Carbine options like the CZ Scorpion Evo or Sig MCX are in 9. Not to mention ammo prices.
.357 offers none of these.

There is good reasoning on both sides. I started Cowboy guns as a boy and now(82) am looking for defensive items. I have a few Ruger convertibles and a Browning Hi Power(bought new 91).

I have shot .357 shot with snake shot, years ago. Got them in
Hollywood, Fl., gun shop. I believe, 4-5 pellets, per round.

Don’t hold your breath on any clarification about this gobbledygook. Someone that really doesn’t know much of anything about guns is just trying to put as many anti-gun talking points as possible into one article. It’s not like you can buy just one gun for self defense that is going to be adequate for all situations. Ammo is now better, so you can actually get by with a smaller gun in many cases. But in the case of a terrorist attack or widespread “zombie uprising” you may need some extra firepower.
