In a release issued on Wednesday, the Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police was critical of the police department saying it is critically understaffed and that it has no long term plan of action to fight crime.
FOP president Gene Ryan says the department cannot hire enough officers to catch up with attrition, and says the city has failed to properly manage the agency.
I really have a problem with elected officials being silent with whats going on in the streets of Baltimore right now, Ryan said. I mean we have bodies dropping on a daily basis".

The city leadership teamed with the Obama administration to neuter the police.
Well for a start pass more gun laws and put up “No Crime Allowed” signs in the worst neighborhoods.
This is all over the nation as agencies are really struggling to find replacements, not just good replacements; any replacements.
It will be a generation or more until the Ferguson/Baltimore debacles have faded to where people want to enter the field again.
True that. Baltimore has been decaying for a long time under Democrat control. There is a hands off policy towards criminals that has led to it becoming an increasingly dangerous city.
Well for a start pass more gun laws and put up No Crime Allowed signs in the worst neighborhoods.

Right! And pass more feel good legislation, commission some studies to study the problems, hold hearings, appoint some blue ribbon commissions, and launch expensive advertising campaigns to improve the city’s image. That will solve all the problems. /sarc
Wow - I just finished binge-watching ‘The Wire’ on Amazon Prime after Rush always talked about it - and it’s like the writer based everything on the reality of things as they are.
What a cesspool.
Then along came the nitwitted Attorney General who thought she knew it all and tried the police for ‘mishandling’ Freddie Gray...
When you get hit over the head so many times for trying to do your job, you don't do your job anymore...
Maybe Cummings should be fired along with the rest of Baltimore ‘officials’...just saying...
How can businesses in Baltimore attract people to work for them given the sordid conditions in the city? Who would want to work or live there? Say goodbye to the tax base.
Signage, very important.
Must be in Braille, large type raised letters and pictograms; in 31 languages and eight sub dialects.
Also audio output for the visually impaired.
Pls consider a staffed kiosk in key areas for the totally impaired.
The political leadership of Baltimore has made this bed by refusing to stop violence and looting when it happened.
They ALLOWED the entire city to turn into a No-Go Zone where criminals are free to do as they wish.
Recall that the then Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, said “We will give them space to Destroy”. And then she denied saying it.
Perhaps the cops could start using only pepper spray to create a more friendly atmosphere at a crime scene . Just a suggestion for our liberal friends ,, the mayor and city council . Considering the federal improvements implemented by the 0bama admin. this seems right in line with their new program .
(sarc) OK
In my opinion, that has everything to do with it.
More police and more prisons are not the answer.
We know the answer but to even suggest it and you are immediately labeled racist.
That magic word racist is what is destroying many big cities.
It is like a force field around the city preventing any action that would resolve the problem.
I suspect political correctness is raging forward and actual policing has become an afterthought.
Politicians are the problem....
“GOTTA GIVE EM ROOM TO RIOT”..... idiocy
The pols undercut the cops and now its in crisis mode.... and pols refuse to act...
The City's elected did this to police on purpose and are directly responsible for the anarchy in many parts of the city, with Obama and Lynch working with them behind the scenes..
There are some areas of Baltimore that are largely uneffected by the crime, like those South of the Inner Harbor.
“This is all over the nation as agencies are really struggling to find replacements, not just good replacements; any replacements.”
That is so true. I survived 25 years on the job and then had to retire. You couldn’t pay me enough to do it now.
When the bodies drop, the tendies are soon to follow.
