How the Deep State Built Its Field of Dreams

This week, we learned that former FBI Director James Comey will probably be a witness in any proceeding brought by his close friend Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Rod Rosenstein, a former Mueller staffer, appointed Mueller because Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who handed the oversight of this matter to his Deputy Rosenstein, had recused himself and that recusal was based on a misreading of the law by career Department of Justice attorneys. Sessions’s recusal, moreover, was engendered by illegal leaks. And the investigation by Mueller is being fanned by more of them.

James Comey

At the center of the narrative is James Comey, who, in a girlish recital, testified about a brief conversation he had with the President in which he was told General Flynn was a “good guy” and that the President hoped the FBI investigation would “let this go.”

Comey has a long history of prosecuting questionable obstruction cases. Among other overreaches, it was Comey, who with almost certain knowledge (as I have explained previously) that there was no leak of a covert CIA agent by Dick Cheney or any of his staff, sicced former colleague, Southern District of New York (SDNY) prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald on Lewis Libby and got a conviction on a dubious process crime.

He also confessed to having leaked through a third-party friend, Columbia University Law Professor Daniel C. Richman, his version of the discussion with the President.

His explanation was self-serving and inconsistent. Linda Shelley writes:

Destroy the Deep State.

Abolish the govt employee unions.

Abolish the civil service system.

Out of control bureaucrats are exercising power beyond their authority.

There is a bill to make it easier to fire VA employees. Why wasn’t it written for the entire Federal government?

May I suggest, for your viewing enjoyment, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister for insight into the hidden government.

Abolish the govt employee unions

An EO that Trump could have rescinded on Day One.

And so could have Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2...but they were lesser men except in one case. And he was a product of a previous era that didn't see it as a bad thing.

No Civil Servant needs a union. The Civil Service act serves as their guardian.

They are supposed to work at the pleasure of the citizenry. Instead they have created a new nobility and arrogated the lawmaking power to themselves.

I would be interested to know in what way do you turn these upon whom sessions depended gave him the wrong advice regarding his recusal. In other words how did these career attorneys in the judicial Department misread the law.

I think he should do an unrecusal. He should bring in McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor and nevertrumper, as a special assistant/advisor on these issues, and get a detailed, persuasive memo on the subject, then announce his unrecusal and shut down of all this nonsense. Otherwise, it will drag on and prevent the agenda from ever getting done. If Sessions can’t take the heat, he should not have taken the job of Trump’s AG. Trump needed someone to be his firewall, and Sessions screwed that up. He needs to fix it.

That’s what I’d like to know.

Sessions recuses himself based on wrong advice from justice dept staffers...presumably Democrats.

Then Rosenstein using a bad reading of the law appoints a special prosecutor just like dirty Comey wanted.

I suspect Sessions was naive but the rest of the players in this had their agenda.

Without making a judgment about Session on the wisdom of his recusing himself in the first place, there seems to be no legitimate reason for him to not now unrecuse himself and get back to the business of being in total charge of his AG job where he needs to be. The whole anti Trump establishment in all parties are making up the rules as they go along and Pres Trump has the power to override them with his own authority. It is sink or swim for pro Trumpers. Save this Republic or drown.

“I suspect Sessions was naive but the rest of the players in this had their agenda.”

Agree. Naive, and trusting in the inherent goodness of man, which is NOT inherent in DC or our state capitols. Quite the opposite. I hope he and Trump have fully awoken to the sad and evil reality of their fellow travelers.

No chance. In the hearing the first two things the Rats did
was get Sessions on record saying he would not get rid of Meuller and re-commit to his recusel, which Sessions did unequivocally. We needed a Terminator and we got Mr. Rodgers.

I agree with abolishing civil service unions.

Unfortunately, the supposed pro-USA CIA and other covert, dark, secret, off the record, _guardians_ must be removed. They have set themselves as intellectual genies (gods) over lawful government and rightful freedom; we have allowed it. If USAians actually understood how big and powerful the deep is, they would have stopped it a long time ago.

Good graphics which depict real time treachery in process against duly elected President Trump. The Trump rug needs to be pulled from under all of those hired to corrupt the laws however need be to destroy this govt, and this Republic.

because everyone agrees with the VA issue.

then it becomes a short step to go from “just the va?” into other areas one by one.
