The damage on the navy ship was on the starboard side, and the freighter had minimal damage to its port bow. That means the freighter was the stand on vessel, and the navy ship should have given way.

Then, of course, there is the law of gross tonnage...

Many careers will be lost over this, and much paper will fly.

But more importantly, there are 7 sailors missing. Let's hope they were sneaking a smoke on the fantail.

Even if they went in the water, it would take a miracle to find them.

Exactly. From where the Navy vessel was struck on her Starboard side, the tanker was the stand on vessel, and the Navy vessel had the obligation to avoid by hte rules of the road, not to mention her maneuverability capabilities...I learned that as an old Destroyer SWO many years ago.

Pray for the lost sailors..but someone is in BIG trouble here.
