A lawyer for an Alabama inmate put to death by lethal injection said Friday she is concerned his trembling limbs and labored breathing were an indication something “was not right” with the procedure.
Robert Melson, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m. CDT Thursday at a southwest Alabama prison, authorities said.
Melson’s attorneys had filed a flurry of last-minute appeals seeking to stay the execution, arguing that the state planned to use a sedative that would not reliably render Melson unconscious before other drugs stopped his longs and heart. State prosecutors said Melson and another man who used to work at the restaurant, robbed a Popeye’s in Gadsden, 60 miles (96 kilometers) northeast of Birmingham, and Melson opened fire on four employees in the restaurant’s freezer. Nathaniel Baker, Tamika Collins and Darrell Collier were killed. All that matters is he is dead, cold, and his carcass disposed of. That he trembled as he died is no big deal, no concern. Is it cruel and unusual? Maybe he was trembling in fear. What about his victims, how about a moment of concern for them?

These unfortunate people who OD on Fentanyl seems to nod off to sleep peacefully.
Why not just OD prisoners the same way?
That we can’t even manage to do this simply, humanely and cleanly without undue burden on the tax payer is truly a sign our culture is pretty far gone. Probably too far gone.

Nothing says an execution should be stress and pain free, only swift.

Since he didn’t complain about it at the time of his execution, it’s not an issue. The desired end result was achieved.
Why don’t they just euthanize them like a vet does an animal? That seems to work just fine. Why do they keep screwing up - assuming the little POS wasn’t jacked with just a bit so he’d be a little uncomfortable leaving planet Earth. I have no problem with that. I’m sure the people he shot were uncomfortable too, and he didn’t give a damn.
I think the lawyer should go through the same procedure to determine if he ends up with similar results.
