Comey didn’t just share the documents, he directed his partner to send them to the press to harass the President.

I am guessing DOJ AG Sessions scored SOMETHING incriminating from Comey’s office while he was away and locked out, including any tapes or notes on meetings with Trump! That could play a role in how this pans out..

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hope you’re right on this.

From Snowden’s twitter (preceded by a line of commentary from r/The_Donald):

Edward Snowden with the Killshot:

Believe me, I’m sympathetic to Comey’s reasoning behind his leak. But General Petraeus tried the same argument; the .Gov was unpersuaded.

We don’t know that the memo wasn’t classified. The onus is on Comey to prove a memo created on an encrypted government computer by a high ranking government official about a conversation with the president of the united states shouldn’t be classified. Trump has the ultimate authority to classify or declassify any government document. Checkmate, Comey!

‘It’s a violation, but can he be prosecuted? I don’t know.’

Let’s ask Petraeus. See post 63.

He set the precedent and then cries like a snowflake when Trump did the same thing! He has no credibility at all and did more harm to himself than he did to Trump.

...but where are they now??? Comey said he turned them over to Muller, but I thought his friend had them who read them over the phone to the media reporter at the New York Times and other places...

We’ll see how serious Sessions is about prosecuting the swamp. I’m hoping, *very* serious. (Though it would no doubt be a huge advantage to have Christopher Wray in at the FBI in place of McCabe, before any high profile prosecutions really get going.)

The notes were not “Classified”. However the conversation with Donald Trump was “confidential” and the notes taken by the FBI director regarding a “confidential” communication with the President were not his to share. Those were the property of the US Government and the FBI. To leak that alleged memo to the press would be a felony.

Comey is as stupid as he looks.

Frankly I don’t believe there is a memo.

When they find the professor he will use the excuse that “The Dog ate my memo”. The press will buy it.

If that memo actually surfaces, then Comey could be tried for leaking a confidential FBI memo. The last thing Comey wants is for the memo to appear. That memo is his ticket to Leavenworth.

I’m sure by now that his boyfriend will either deny that he ever had it or try to save his own butt by claiming he just told the press what Comey told him to tell the press. If he ever had that memo in his possession, then he could be going to prison with his butt buddy Comey.

I suspect it is pretty close to the Petraeus situation, although

“If it has no classified info..then it will have to be proven that the memo itself....no matter what was said..is classified”

There is no legal requirement that the document be classified for conviction. Especially in the manner that Comey made the document public.

In addition, and totally separate, Comey violated the contract he signed with the FBI as a Federal FBI employee by doing what he did (possibly 9 times).

Very true. And vis-a-vis Wray, *that* ball is in Yertle's court. I'm much less optimistic about that outcome.

McConnell seriously angered his Uniparty bosses when he bypassed Merrick Garland and allowed Trump to put Gorsuch on the SC. This is why, recently, McConnell was pushing Lieberman for FBI Director. He was trying hard to re-ingratiate himself with the Democrats and Globalists, etc.

Well that ploy failed, so McConnell is still in the hole. Like you, I don’t look for him to be aggressive on Christopher Wray’s behalf. He’s in subservient mode, unfortunately.

It’s amusing how an argument based on mud slinging covers all with dirt.

I would say that anything the President says that is government business related and not public is at least official business only or more likely confidential classified material.

That is what Newt, Alan Dershowitz and others have been saying, that anything that goes on with the President, no matter where he is, is classified information unless he himself de classifies it...
