Why ISIS hates the Kurds
Arutz Sheva (Israeli National News) ^ | 06/07/17 | Uzay Bulut

Why does Islamic State hate Kurdish armed groups? And why does Turkey try to equate the Kurds with ISIS?

The Turkish government has repeatedly declared that the Islamic State (DAESH/ISIS/IS) is the same as the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), the PYD (the Syrian-Kurdish Democratic Union Party), and the YPG (the Syrian-Kurdish People's Defense Units).

However, ISIS (aka IS or DAESH) sympathizers strongly disagree with this comparison. According to a report by the Ankara-based Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies (ORSAM), the main agenda of Turkish-speaking ISIS supporters on Twitter is the PKK and YPG, and they refer to these two groups with a very hostile language.

YPG, or the People's Defense Units, is the main Kurdish armed service of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the ruling party of the de-facto government of Northern Syria, which Kurds refer to as Rojava (Western) Kurdistan. The Kurdistan Workers' Party, or the PKK, founded in 1978, demands autonomy for Kurds in Turkey.

The ORSAM published the report in August of last year and declared it was the first “Twitter social network analysis on Turkish-speaking DAESH supporters.”

The Kurds are Muslims, but they want to get along with their neighbors. They protect Christians and Yazidis. They are closer to Western than the ISIS or Iranian types.

And ISIS can’t conquer them and impose thri brutal, theocratic, totalitarian caliphate on them.t

Someone went off one time about how the Kurdish Worker’s PArty is a communist entity.

Ive no idea if it’s true or how it plays into this situation.

Right now communism would be acceptable over ISIS or Turkey

PKK is Communist, and some of the other groups probably are as well.

You can't mean that.

There are still too many Communist governments in the world. One would be too much.

ISIS hates the Kurds just as they hate Shia Muslims.

They are infidels. And they are to be treated as demanded by the koran and hadith. Brutally, until they either convert, are made slaves or pay the infidel tax.

The Kurds fight. Hard.

++++

“They are secular organizations in which female fighters also join in large numbers. These things seem to be beyond the understanding of IS. Also, IS members fight because they believe they will go to heaven and get 72 virgins as a reward for their fight. The PKK and YPG fight, as well, but not for religious motivations. They do not carry out suicide bombings for the ‘virgins in the afterlife.’ IS supporters must be stumped by that.”

PKK was once totally Marxist/Leninist. They have abandoned that stance for a concept of Democratic Federalism. They still have a following among the hard left.

They have committed Terrorist acts against the Turkish Police and Military. I am told never against citizens. Another group who has attacked civilians in Turkey is the TAK. It is a very secretive organization which PKK claims is not connected with them at all. I suspect there is some truth to that. I make that statement based upon friends in Syria. It is taboo to talk about either in public in Turkey or in Syria.

If the Kurds are communist why aren’t the Russians helping them?

So basically Kurds are the kind of muslims who can be peaceful and fit into society and not run around bend on beheading all non-muslims.

Basically, ISIS hates the Kurds because they have been getting their behinds kicked by them since Kobane in 2015.

Short answer? Yes.

The Syrian Kurds are totally secular. They do no persecute based on religion. (except ISIS if you call that a religion)

Iraq Kurds are almost all Muslim. Syrian Kurds have large minority of citizens who are non Muslim.

I’m not sure in Turkey how it breaks out.

In Iran? Nobody really knows, but I suspect it is highly Muslim.

But I would gladly neighbor with Syrian Kurds. I know a number of them very well. Good people. (Like US? not so much, but very good people)

PKK used to be Communist, but they have given up that stance for a concept of Democratic Federalism, and Communalism. They still have a following among the hard left, probably left over from the days when they were Commies.

That probably means that some of our "antifas" support them.
