NEWARK -- Phil Murphy, a former banking executive and U.S. ambassador to Germany who has poured millions from his own fortune into the race for New Jersey governor and vows to reinvigorate the state's economy, fought off five rivals Tuesday night to win the Democratic nomination in the battle to succeed Chris Christie.
The Associated Press called the race for Murphy about an hour after the polls closed.

Leni
who has poured millions from his own fortune into the race for New Jersey governor and vows to reinvigorate the states economySounds just like Corzine.
I thought chicago was Polak?
Irish names do very very well. It’s been proven people with Irish names are more likely to win election as a Judge in Cook County.
Yup, it’s a Corzine clone. A fiasco for Jersey either way.
Wait. Thought it was Phil Dunphy...wrong thread...
We have the best politicians money can buy........../s
A real shocker this. Lena Dunham endorsed Jim Johnson (21.9% of vote) so I was sure he was a shoo-in.
This world has actually bought STUPID
I’m, Bringing back my Old Tag.
Murphy, the best politician money can buy, esp. if you are a Democrat. Just look at the Murphys and Murrays (Democrats) in Congress. Most are batshit insane.
Then again, New Jersey gets what it deserves (as the Mafia guys used to say).
So this nutcase will steal taxpayers money to increase his wealth? Who did he beat in the primary?
Particularly irritating was the one about how when his father was a boy and found out his boss was skimming his paycheck, he confronted him. And how as Governor, he will do the same thing to "big business" that takes advantage of the little guy. Right out of the playbook.
But, I'd be shocked if he doesn't win what with the political climate in NJ these days. And none of the feminazis will support Kim G on the Republican side.
