Toledo Police Department Has a Domestic Abuse Problem, Beat Your Wife and Get Promoted! Toledo Police Departments Thin Blue Line·Monday, May 29, 2017209 Reads
Toledo Police Department Has a Domestic Abuse Problem, Beat Your Wife and Get Promoted! Terrie Pachell, wife of now Toledo Police Captain Jeff Pachell lived through two decades of domestic abuse but after he tried to run her over with his car in August of last year, while his daughter sat in Terrie's car, she had enough! If you are a regular citizen and you beat your spouse, attempt to run her over with a car, you go to jail but that is not the policy at the Toledo Police department, you protect your officer and even promote him! You slow the whole system down so the spouse becomes even more victimized, while the officer looks like the victim. Officer Pachell denied it all, claimed his wife was just really good make-up artist, forced her to be psychologically evaluated by someone of his choice. He had all the legal ramifications moved from criminal court to civil court. Terrie however was able to get a protective order in place, which was still a major problem for officer Pachell, being a cop and having a protective order against you, even with the Toledo Police Department puts your job in jeopardy. May 15th.2017 Terrie had her day in court, it was to be the finality of her divorce from officer Pachell but the entire hearing ended up being all about extending her protective order for another 5 years. Considering officer Pachell purposely moved 500 feet away from her home, was a cop with a gun and 20 year history of abuse and a police force and a mayor totally unwilling to do what the law would do to anyone else; who had abused their spouse, even once! A hearing that was to end the marriage and determine the protective order, became only about the protective order, the little tiny lady turned the tables on the whole situation or should we say the door. One night officer Pachell kicked in Terrie's bedroom door in an obvious fit of rage, she had the where with all to save the door at a family members home and brought the door in while officer Pachel was being questioned. Terrie's attorney started questioning officer about his violent history against Terrie, to her shock, the judges shock and all attorneys present in the room, officer Pachell over all confessed, vindicating Terrie's claim against him! A week later the court notified her she was given the extended protective order and the judge sided with her on most of what she was looking for. However 9 months after officer Pachell to tried to run her over, the prosecutor is still looking at the matter, As of today he is still a captain at the Toledo Police Department, also as of the writing of this article the mayor of Toledo has still done nothing! The thin blue line is live and well in some parts of America!
Toledo Ohio...I spent a week there one day.
No excuse for domestic violence.
The Thin Blue Line can be any color especially where survival is contingent on the members of the group/team.
To help prevent the protection of abusers, related training must occur early and be reinforced over time — otherwise, expectations of unreasonable solidarity take form.
If there’s anything to this, for shame. Because people tend to generalize across police departments and a black eye on one is a smear to the popular view of all. This hurts law enforcement all over the land.
He needs more money to pay for wife’s broken bones. That gets expensive.
I lived in downtown Toledo in the late seventies and I remember when they went on strike—every cop car was parked with the light bars on and the keys locked inside the cars. A lot full of red and blue flashing lights. At least they left the sirens off, iirc...
She shouldn’t be forced to leave the town but under the circumstances that would seem exceeding wise.
It’s fairly well-known statistic that police have much higher rates of domestic violence than the general population. Not just a little higher but double or more.
Are we surprised?
AlaskaWolf: “At least the officer got home safe!! He did the right thing!!1!”
No, not surprised that Toledo pd did that.
Stress and men with a bent to be alpha males could aggravate those numbers. Anyhow, the problem here is not the number of cases popping up. It’s an apparent long term ongoing case that local politicians are too paralyzed to do anything about.
Without fealty to an actual God (not just bumper stickers, which I don’t know if they even do in unholy Toledo) there are going to be all kinds of perversions of authority running rampant. They are the big dogs and there is none bigger, therefore what they want they get.
Was born there about four decades ago.
The Toledo PD is known for its abysmal behavior.
And, yeah, pretty much that but X 10.
Real men don’t beat their wives or any other women. The problem is that the authority and power of the job attracts power-hungry narcissist types in greater numbers and has a concentrative effect. Sort of like how politics attracts grifters and teaching attracts pedophiles.
