Merkel warns against "simple answers" after Trump meetings

Chancellor Angela Merkel cautioned Monday against seeking “simple answers” to complex global issues, a day after suggesting that Europe’s relationship with the U.S. had shifted significantly following NATO and G-7 meetings with President Donald Trump that produced disappointing results.

The comments at an election rally Sunday in Bavaria, where Merkel stressed that “we Europeans must really take our destiny into our own hands,” were widely seen as acknowledgement from Europe’s most powerful leader of the changing dynamic of trans-Atlantic ties. Her foreign minister, a political rival, upped the rhetoric Monday by declaring that with Trump’s policies, “the West has become smaller.”

Merkel’s remarks came after a Group of Seven summit at which the Europeans couldn’t reach an agreement with Trump on climate change. “The times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over, as I have experienced in the past few days,” she said. “And so all I can say is that we Europeans must really take our destiny into our own hands.”

Merkel also emphasized the continued need for friendly relations with the U.S. and others. Her spokesman Steffen Seibert, said Monday the chancellor is “a convinced trans-Atlanticist.” …

Sure why do what’s right when you can complicate everything. You have to be really smart to let a million illegal refugees walk in and stay. /s

The muslims that she invited in (Trojan Horse) and want to drive Europe back to the dark ages don't care about your global warming. Why don't you ask them Merkel, they are the future of Europe they will destroy the past and future culturally.

The self appointed intellectuals over think and rationalize everything in efforts to deceive and destroy, which will make it that much easier for old Russian imperialism to conquer Europe. When they do will they drive the Moors out once more?

“Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy ‘accommodation.’ And they say if we’ll only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he’ll forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer — not an easy answer — but simple: If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based on what we know in our hearts is morally right.” …
We are still surrounded by the “no simple answers, world’s too complex” socialists.

They don’t worry about culture; they worry about power.

Actually, it sounds as though ol’ Angela got the message. Trump made it clear that the free ride is over, and Angie seems to believe him. That French dude might need to be bitchslapped to bring him around. He reportedly snickered at Trump’s remarks. He’ll get his comeuppance one of these days.

Yeah yeah, sure sure, the Leftards like Frau Merkel are always full of “simple answers” so long as their simplistic approaches serve leftist ideology.

All the blather she is spewing now is just her futile attempt to seem relevant, when she has discovered that she matters less and less on the world stage. She can take her pansy-boy Macron and they can go F themselves!

Europe is in for a lot of social and political instability with all of the violent “refugees” they’re letting in. Nations with a death wish may not be a very good investment.

She was counting on
* Submission to sharia taking care of ISIS
* The US protecting Europe from Russia single-handedly
* The Paris agreement hurting US ability to compete on global markets

Then Trump won and those “simple answers” are no longer options.

Merkel was born in 54 in East Germany. She damn sure does not recall nor did she ever see the bombed out ruins of portions of West German inner cities still visible in 1957. She never saw some of the West Germans digging through US military families garbage cans for food even in late 59. She was obviously shielded by the East German patrol’s boats on the river plus their presence along the border.

Do you have any understanding of history? East & West Germany were one unified country during WWII. "The bombed out ruins of portions of West German inner cities still visible in 1957," were also there in East Germany. Infact, more so, since the Russians had the reverse of the Marshal plan (Russia stripped the East German zone of anything of value). I saw East Berlin from the West Berlin side in 1971 and it was as if life had been sucked out of everything in the East zone!

But since Ma Merkel was a member of the commie party she saw E Germany as the worker's paradise.

Merkel is one Sour Kraut

My solution is to relocate our German bases to Poland. Poland is closer to Russia, and Poland and Turkish bases make a better combo of locations to handle middle east crisis.

Poland pays its full Nato obligation while Merkel won’t meet Germany’s Nato goal of 2% GDP.

So show Merkel Nato cuts both ways. Besides putting our assets into Poland is cheaper than Germany where everything is expensive.

Yes, I know German history, and; I lived there in 57-60.I have been to Dachau. You are new here. Are you a German? I have been to Berlin when it was still divided in early 68 prior to Vietnam. I had the damn OST Deutsch patrol boat loaded with commies with their AK’s intimidate the hell out of the ferry on the river. I have seen the damn wall. East Berlin was the Russian Sector. She thinks like a socialist.
