A farmer faces trial in federal court this summer and a $2.8 million fine for failing to get a permit to plow his field and plant wheat in Tehama County.
A lawyer for Duarte Nursery said the case is important because it could set a precedent requiring other farmers to obtain costly, time-consuming permits just to plow their fields.

This farmer should file for a reimbursement of any and all property taxes he’s paid over the years as, clearly, the field is no longer his property.
He should also ask for a record of the compensation he has received arising from the taking of his land.
Worse than Wicker vs. Filburn, that gave sweeping powers to the government, at our freedom's expense.

“Waters of the US” law, ACoE, a Kalifornistan pussy hat-wearing judge. What could go wrong for a farmer? On the other hand, farmers have been in bed with government all their lives; it’s great when in you’re receiving, not so much when you’re getting taken. Mixed feelings about this one.
Long ago a friend of mine sold a North Carolina company for tens of millions. A decade later, Janet Reno sent him notice that he had to pay $20 million for damaging the environment. Huh? The company he had hired to haul away industrial trash had dumped some of it in a river or lake illegally. Friend had no idea, but Reno didn't care. He was ordered to pay, told he could not hire a lawyer and challenge the edict.
Of course, he had lawyers who knew what to do. As far as I know, he did not pay that ridiculous fine. He was a great patriot, a WW2 hero...and the look on his face when he told me about Reno was a profound mixture of horror, hate and hurt.
Richard Nixon was a fool for originating the EPA. Surely, he could have foreseen that putting THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in charge of regulating the air and water would be dangerous to the country. That’s why we should never let the government run our healthcare, giving them the power of life and death over us.
You only think you own property. In reality, the state owns it, and you get to pay the insurance, taxes and upkeep.
The only good news is that Janet Reno died last year. Maybe she’s trying to improve the environment in Hell?
