President Trump failed to commit to remaining within the Paris climate agreement during a two-day meeting with world leaders that ended here Saturday, but he tweeted that he was still considering it and would announce a final decision “next week.”

In a final communique, the Group of Seven industrialized countries said that the United States “is not in a position to join the consensus.” The other six members reaffirmed their commitment to swiftly implement the 2015 accord to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

Excellent! Go, Trump, MAGA.

Suggestion:

Make everyone who worries about global warming, give up traveling by car or plane, and give up using computers, to avoid generating greenhouse gases that cause global warming.

Let's see how many will continue to believe in global warming.

he tweeted that he was still considering it and would announce a final decision “next week.”

He'd better be considering whether his decision will be "NO!" or "HELL NO!"

If he buckles on the Paris climate agreement, his support will crater. This being said, I did get a good chuckle over President Trump riding around in his golf cart while the other G7 leaders were walking. It would've been better if he had his golf cart modded to roll coal. Maybe someone can help him out here before his next climate change meeting.

I'm thinking the words "refuses to commit" would be more appropriate.

Headline says Trump “failed”. I’d say he succeeded in not signing on to this wrong-headed treaty.

“Declines to commit” would work

That’s quite a loaded headline. “won’t” would be more accurate. “fails” is worded to make it sound like he set out to do something but was too inept to carry it through - likely the effect they were going for.

But...but...but.... I though Gary Cohn said he had evolved on it.

Good. Glad Trump “failed” here.

Yes - declines, won’t, etc. would have been appropriate. instead it is worded like he set out to do something and screwed it up and wasn’t successful.
