My apologies, my typing ‘see you next week.’ was my version of what Hannity twitted, not an actual quote. Just wanting to clear up the confusion I caused. Cheers.

I will leave my account open, but i will transfer out my funds...xfer out my stocks and ira... and will sop the insurance.
I know Progressive and GEICO are leftie companies but if USAA is going to act like one then they have to compete price wise. I never found USAA to have the best price but i felt it served the military. Brokerage executions suck, interest rates on loans are higher than the open market. They shoveled my motorcycle and boat insurance over to Progressive and I found better rates at GEICO.
Hannity lives here in the neighborhood and is a good guy in real life.
USAA is really disappointing.

But don’t lie to us about it and be disingenuous.

This, I think, is one of the most infuriating things about this whole response from USAA. Reading their tweets from last night, they appear all sweet and personable to those congratulating them, and totally condescending to everyone who was expressing distaste.

The response they did come up with is completely disingenuous. They must think we won't notice that while they just happened to "correct a mistake" with the Hannity show, they continue to support leftist opinion shows, the NFL, etc.

I just cut the cord, but neither Warren Buffet's GEICO nor Peter Lewis's aptly-named Progressive were options for me. I went to Auto-Owners and got better rates on homeowners and autos and a much lower Personal Umbrella premium. I will transfer my USAA bank accounts tomorrow. USAA's fabricated cover story just made me furious, and General McDermott must be rolling over in his grave.

Now that it’s done, I feel like I just shot a deserter. Had to say that.

I had progressive for my boat, when it sank in a hurricane they called it a mechanical failure and didn’t cover anything but the clean up. Never again. f flo.

“I purchased a mortgage from USAA. Next thing I know, PHH owns my mortgage.”

Mortgages are sold into the secondary mortgage market, and USSA sold your mortgage to PHH. Be certain to keep all your original mortgage paperwork in case PHH tries to change terms without your knowledge.

Wells Fargo buys mortgages on the secondary market and is infamous for changing mortgage terms.

Secondary Mortgage Market

Once USAA opened its business to any service member it has gone downhill.

It used to be officers only. I don’t mean this as elitist, but when you get young kids with no intention of making a career of service who can use USAA for the rest of their lives, it brought down the quality because it upped the liability.

The costs are not as good as they used to be.

My only thing is that I have a credit card with them with 6% interest. I don’t usually carry a balance, but the couple of times I have to, the interest has been negligible.

Seriously considering leaving after 37 yrs with them.

I called Master Card and cancelled that credit card when SOROS bought into the company. And I told the phone gal I don’t support Communist like SOROS. “we are sorry you feel that way’. I went Click, and made sure the account was cancelled. I use Discover mainly, the MC was for places that didn’t take Discover.

I hate writing checks.

Thanks for the mention.

Folks are into so many things these days, Soros for instance.

I generally don’t get involved in boycotts and card cutting.

I have from time to time. What I like to do is reward good entities. I loved driving a fair distance through heavy traffic to frequent Chic Filet.

At the current time I write three checks per month. I have everything I can set up to go through one of my cards. I get between $120 and $170 dollars back at the end of each year. And this, for simply paying bills, buying food, gasoline, and other incidentals.

I have a spread sheet set up to write checks. I cut out two V-shaped holes in the top of a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper, and use tape on the back side to adhere my checks to it. I feed them through the printer, and get excellent results.

I can review before I click on print.

What more could I ask. “:^)

Not much more, I might write 1 a year, hubby pays most bills on line, only checks he writes are Express Scripts and to the grands graduating. Rest get gift cards for BD and Christmas, they are such varying ages and taste and most live out of state so gift cards for Amazon lets them get what they want or need. One is in her 30’s the youngest is due in Sept. Which will make #7. #6 G.G. is in first trimester of gestation.

And we get gas points from Kroger’s off gas.

Great GailA. I’m not really a very good rolling advertisement for cash either. I may less than $200 in cash each year.

My only income is my SS check. And if hubby passes I don’t qualify for his Navy pension, we are 2 widowers who found each other through God’s grace. We needed each other.

Been working hard at paying off the house, and will get a new small SUV like the Equinox in about 2 yrs and pay cash for it from savings of the defunct house payments. 2 more of those to go.

Gail, I’m sorry you won’t have access to your husband’s pension. I’m sure that will impact you negatively. Sounds like you’ve made some good planning though, and I am very happy to see/read that.

Good luck on your plan for the new SUV. That sounds great.

If you hadn’t thought about it, when you’re on a fixed income, it can been well worth it to avoid mechanical “surprises”. The extended 7 year warranty is well worth the cost, even if you never use it. Peace of mind is a great state of being.

We have calculated that if we have everything paid off, all I will have to do is take care of taxes, ins, and utilities as well as food. I do get to keep Tricare Life with my Medicare. Not that medical is much good for me, it just makes me sicker. They can’t fix what they DAMAGED with their nasty drugs. So I try and steer clear of them as much as possible.

We have a small nest egg, but being Military then Prof a total of 40 yrs, his savings was not very good. He had a HIGH maintenance Shopaholic as his late wife. Where I’ve always been tight with money. But the last 8 yrs has not been kind to savers as you well know. And I’ve no marketable skills or the health if I had them to use them. I live in 24/7/365 pain and can’t take pain meds to lower it. I’m a high med bad reactor.
