How a dubious Russian document influenced the FBI’s handling of the Clinton probe
Washington Post ^ | May 24

Posted on 05/24/2017 2:21:54 PM PDT by navysealdad

In the midst of the 2016 presidential primary season, the FBI received a purported Russian intelligence document describing a tacit understanding between the campaign of Hillary Clinton and the Justice Department over the inquiry into whether she intentionally revealed classified information through her use of a private email server. The Russian document mentioned a supposed email describing how then-Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch had privately assured someone in the Clinton campaign that the email investigation would not push too deeply into the matter

Heheheh. WOW.

Comey gets wind of a Russian document that claims the DOJ is compromised by an agreement with team Clinton to not pursue her e-mail server breaches, and for that reason decides the FBI better handle letting Clinton off the hook.

Is this the same Russian document that whiz-bang inquisitor Gowdy says justified Comey letting Crooked off the hook? Becasue to me, if the contents of the memo are taken as true, it doesn't narrow the implications for criminal prosecution, it widens them.

But according to the FBI’s own assessment, the document was bad intelligence — and according to people familiar with its contents, possibly even a fake sent to confuse the bureau. The Americans mentioned in the Russian document insist they do not know each other, do not speak to each other and never had any conversations remotely like the ones described in the document.

Well, okay then.......................

I read this that the whole “Russian Collaboration with Trump Squirrel” is beginning to come unglued. This email must be about break loose, and the Swamp Media is spinning this story in order to make it look innocent. I’ll bet we see more similar swamp snot coming soon.

Other people familiar with the document disagree sharply, saying such claims are disingenuous because the FBI has known for a long time that the Russian intelligence document is unreliable and based on multiple layers of hearsay.

So the FBI is discrediting this email because it links Hillary to Russian Hacking. Something we all highly suspect all along.

If however this had anyting to do with a Trump/Russia connection - the FBI would have leaked it to the media and it would have been yammered about non-stop for months.

I still remain confident Special Prosecotor Mueller will find no Trump/Russia Connection. But will indeed find a Hillary/Russia connection. With Comey, Lynch and even Obastard highly involved with felonies, frauds, lies and deceptions.

Exactly what I thought. For the Compost to even dare print this - to even dare allude to the fact there was a Hillary/Russia connection is indeed Breaking News.

I hope the WAPO whores choke on this news. Literally gag and choke.

I'm biased against Mueller, I think he is a snake. But that bias is based on his reaching the position of FBI Director in the first place, and then blowing the anthrax investigation.

His charter is to render an opinion relating to Trump campaign / Russian government cooperation, nothing more. If there is damaging stuff on the DEMs or team Clinton, he will deliberately stay away from it. There is nothing but personal downside to him, to go fishing there.

#10 is correct. An ILLEGAL Hillary-Russia connection would be handed off by Mueller.

These intelligence agency slime talking out of both sides of their mouths are playing word games. People associated with Trump do indeed have business contacts with Russia and many other countries. And Trump hotels accept credit cards from Russian banks, which is a ‘connection’.

So a crapweasel like Clapper can say he’s seen evidence of ‘contacts’ but then also later say there’s no evidence of illegality, purposely misleading while not being subject to perjury.

Well gee, I guess in that case Obama was perfectly justified to spy on Trump's campaign (and presumably feed the intel to Hillary's people).

I'm glad WaPo cleared that up for me. Now, back to the investigation on how Trump colluded with the Ruskies to steal the election from poor Hillary.

No, this is an effort to cover for Comey’s silly-assed behavior.

It sounds like it. I can’t read the article because apparently I’ve used up my Washington Post quota for the month. I ain’t paying for it.

That said, every time I see that header which says “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” one which is trying to assert that the Washington Post is defending Democracy, I burst out laughing.

Sounds like a big story is about to break and the WP wants to put its spin on it to soften the impact on the Clintons.

Probably the guy/gal who did that assessment was also the one who disregarded the Russian warning about the Boston bombers.

Comey and Mueller were both involved in the 2004 sleight of hand of taking advantage of AG Ashcroft when he was ill.

Claiming then to be on the side of privacy rights, basking in the adulation of the left for thwarting “Bush’s War,” they have since been playing a part in protecting an administration that used unmasked “wiretaps” to go after private citizens.

It’s amazing the FBI kept this document so secret and yet allowed the infamous and obviously faked dossier on Trump to float around in public. I think this is Comey airing out his mistakes before he raises his hand during Congressional hearings. A way of inoculating himself and using the Clinton tactic of saying things are “old news.”
