That's a big part of the problem right there: a diagnosis based on feelings and not on reality.

If I feel --- without distress or disabilty --- that I am a fried egg, is that NOT a mental disorder if I feel good about myself with a little bacon on the side?

A better question is would the “transgender” person be friends with a normal person? no, because they are not mentally well, and they are so obsessed with their dickchopping that they cannot relate to people who are going to keep the dick they were born with.

Would you be friends with a transgender person? A full 27 percent of American adults on a recent YouGov survey said no. Even fewer—less than 20 percent—said they would be open to dating a transgender person.

Would I be friends with a transgender person? Of course I would, if we had enough other things in common for a friendship to form. People who would do such drastic things to their own bodies are obviously in a lot of mental pain and need all the friendship they can get.

There’s a person like this at a worksite I go to from time to time. He wears his hair and dresses like a woman, wears makeup and jewelry, and looks more girly all the time. Outside of that, he seems a decent enough chap. I treat him respectfully as I try to treat everyone, old-fashioned Christian gentleman that I am. I don’t think I am going to go out of my way, however, to try to find a transgendered person to befriend.
