Donald Trump Lands In Saudi Arabia

A royal greeting awaited President Donald Trump Saturday when he touched down in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam and a leading regional power.

King Salman met Trump and first lady Melania on the tarmac, and walked them back to the terminal on a red carpet lined by Saudi military. The party then held a brief ceremony in the terminal before the president's motorcade sped away from the airport.

American and Saudi flags lined the highways of the country's capital Riyadh, along with billboards featuring Trump's face. Trumpets played and jets flew overhead streaming red, white and blue colors.

The fanfare contrasted with the low-key reception offered to former President Barack Obama last year.

On Sunday, Trump is due to address the global Muslim community in what national security adviser H.R. McMaster called an "inspiring, but direct speech on the need to confront radical ideology."

Before leaving the United States Friday, Trump said he would use his trip to protect American interests.

Hmmm, I thought SA was having some serious financial troubles, much thanks to Obama’s meddlesome works.

This is from just last autumn and might explain the great deals Trump was able to broker today.

The meeting of the King and FDR in 1945 was also significant because it was the first time ever the king had been outside his country.

Yes, I thought so and on the sites over there people are really talking about Ivanka. The President’s daughter! They apparently really like her!

This was an outstanding Welcome as no other before for an American President. It was a stupendous High Royalty reception.... We have never seen this level of respect and admiration towards the US from the Saudis as we did today.

The King came all the way out ‘to the edge of the carpeting’ to welcome Trump....that ‘ visual’ made a full statement to those in the MEast among the people there.

There was a ‘90-person Royal Saudi Air Forces honor guard’ who practiced rifle drills and then stood at attention while Trump and the King walked toward the terminal.

Even as Trump and Melania walked down the steps from air force one there was ‘an 8 Bugle fanfare’....followed with an aerial 7-jet flyover trailing red, white and blue smoke.

There was 30 U.S. flags at the re airport, only a tiny fraction of the thousands that line streets and highways between the airport and the city center.

Even inside the terminal, the air was filled with the fragrant smells in gilded lamps carried by workers.

Add in over 500 reporters and journalists from around the world to cover the Saudi Riyadh summit and the attendance of over 50 high level ME leaders just emphasizes the significance that the US is once again taking back the lead and that the Center of Me power has been restored to Saudi.

ME too Fishtalk.....I am sooo proud of our President and First Lady.....this event sends a very powerful message across the ME that the US is back and the Saudi Alliance restored to the place it belongs in the ME.

Powerful day not everyone realizes the significance of....it's HUGE!

Sadly, our president almost seems to be treated with more respect there than in his own country.

“Don’t think he bowed like the impostor.”

He didn’t bow to the king. Being so tall, he did have to bend over to let the 81 year old Saudi king put a medal over his head while at the palace.

I just looked at USA media photos. They are posting the picture of him bending over and comments below the articles are saying he’s bowing to the Saudi king. I predicted the media would post that photo on purpose. Despicable.

This trip has had great optics so far, like Nixon in China almost. Very impressive. And Trump and Melania have appeared as dignified representatives of our nation.

The obvious Saudi appreciation of Trump certainly puts the lie to the press’s propaganda that he hates all Muslims and all Muslims hate him. He knows how to court allies in the struggle against ISIS and theocratic Iran. Saudi Arabia’s a pretty horrible place still in many ways, but the Saudi leaders are in a position to help us with many of our goals in the Middle East (and to give our economy an extra boost while they’re at it).

“I thought to myself, enjoy yourself while you can, little girl, because you don’t have much time for freedom left. So very sad.”

I witnessed that a lot when I lived/worked near/in Madistan, WI.

Many blond-haired, blue-eyed, Nordic-Wisconsin-stock- converted - BRAINWASHED young women in burkas, with a trail of little half-breeds behind them.

Yes. So. Very. Sad. :(

Compare the scowling Mooch to a beautiful woman like Lupita Nyong’o. Talk about night and day!

I seem to recall that the departed Osama bin Hidin’ did not consider the Saudi royal family to be proper guardians of Mecca since they allow the infidels to build military bases in the kingdom, and he wanted to kill/oust the current royal family.
