Total continuing claims for unemployment benefits ran at the lowest level in 28 years at the beginning of May, the Department of Labor reported Thursday morning in a new sign that the jobs market is still improving.

The total number of unemployed workers receiving benefits fell to 1.9 million, the agency said, the lowest such mark since November of 1988, when the workforce was much smaller.

Over the past month, the average number of continuing claims per week has clocked in at 1.95 million, the lowest number in 43 years.

That should worry Democrats. It’s the last thing they want.

With all the people who were no longer being counted on the unemployment roles, now that the major drag on employment, obama, is gone the number just may go below zero!

Low claims because the claimants have expended their allotment already and can’t get more unemployment benefits.

That is the real question, what is the labor force participation rate and the under-utilization rate?

They are probably taking credit for it saying 8 years of Obama policies are paying off. LOL! If only someone could reenact a Clancy novel, isolate the liberal gene, and exterminate every liberal in existence. Hate to say it but to my disgrace I think I know how Hitler felt because I really do loathe liberals. I never used to hate anyone but I can’t help it now. I know I shouldn’t act this way but God help me!

They’re not just on the left, they’re on the left hand of God and God will eventually deal with them. It’s not as if the Bible gave us no warning of what to expect from them. But things will have to get worse before they get better.

What a crock of unmitigated poo. The U.S. government is still LYING about the REAL unemployment numbers.

You would have thought the Trump administration would publish the ACTUAL, FACTUAL unemployment numbers in order to show how destructive Obomination's disastrous economic policies were over the kast eight years and how rapidly President Trump's economic policies are working to turn around and recover employment and the economy.

Instead, the American people are still being fed LIES concerning the real state of the economy and "unemployment figures". It is disgraceful.

Because it Trump publishes the real numbers, the left will make HIM own them.

This allows him to show small meaningful gains.

In time the overall numbers will improve.

Well, they can’t just drop the lying numbers and pick up the factual numbers because the shock of going from, say, 4.6% to 10-ish would throw a serious curve into the populace. They would not care that the method of measurement was different, that it was based on something other than unemployment claims.

So my approach would be to go back 20-30 years and publish BOTH or ALL unemployment calculations in parallel, just 2 or 3 separate columns on the same chart. You need to teach people that there are more accurate ways to calculate unemployment before you produce a number that looks terribly bad in comparison to the rosy picture that the government has been painting for the last several years.

Low claims because the claimants have expended their allotment already and can’t get more unemployment benefits.

BINGO! They're no longer counted as they've fallen off the rolls.

The real number is in the Workforce Participation Rate which is still historically low as more people have given up looking for work.

We DO NOT HAVE a dynamic, growing economy. This did not all magically turn-around now that Obama's gone and Trump is in office -- nor is it likely to for at least a few more years especially with the Trump Administration bogged down by Democrats and the Media battling all the fake news that we're being barraged with on a daily basis.

The liberal slavery has to be consistent to be effective. A lot of folks are gonna find out they can still earn an honest paycheck, pay their taxes on their income and still have money to try and pay a bill or two. Even failing at that would make me feel better than accepting money from others who needed it at least as bad as I do.
