An Oregon man who threatened on social media to kill former President Barack Obama and shoot FBI agents was sentenced Friday to 63 months in federal prison.
John Roos, 62, of Medford, Ore., had threatened on Twitter to kill Obama and his family on Facebook and to shoot FBI agents with hunting rifles. According to the Mail Tribune's review of court documents, Roos said he did not intend to carry out the threats but that they were meant to "blow off steam." According to an affidavit written by FBI Special Agent Jeffrey Gray, and reported by the Oregonian, Roos said that given the chance he would "punch Obama in the nose" because Obama "pisses him off."

63 months is a light sentence.
They guy is lucky.
This seems to be a 180 degree enforcement change from currently accepted threats against President Trump.
But Hollywood makes a movie about assassinating Bush and all that happens is....... Nothing.
Where are charges, convictions, and jail for threats against President Trump.
Session’s hopefully will fix this chit.
Can you imagine the overload of our jails if we gave 5-year prison terms to everyone who has threatened Trump.
I’m wondering what all the people who have threatened Trump are getting for jail time?

For those who have been and will be charged with such a crime, it will take a while to be adjudicated.
But, 63 months appears to be the going rate.
She did get fired though. Not the same as prison but still a consequence.
They are sentenced to attend 3 demonstrations in3 months.
Really?! What about the aforementioned Trump threats which all go unpunished, not even investigated?
How do you know those threats are not being investigated?
People don’t get sentenced to prison for threatening the president. I’m guessing that the sentence is really for the possession of an explosive device charge.
What? Did he call him “That colored fellow” or something?
I guess Comey was just too busy to bother with someone wanting to assassinate President Trump and all of his children, including his 10 year old son.
