Seattle police now use the term community member in place of suspect when writing use of force reports, something several officers find offensive. Per KIRO:
I think this is all in an effort to make sure our report writing sounds politically correct, Seattle Police Officers' Guild Kevin Stuckey told KIRO 7.
Politically correct. No kidding.
This is the result of the lefts ceaseless push to whitewash truth and make everything the same. So if someone in Community A commits a heinous crime, they are awarded the same description as a law-abiding citizen who also lives in Community A. They are both community members.

No surprise. The left doesn’t really care about crimes like murder and theft, if committed by a black or a m*slim. They only care about Whites who pronounce politically incorrect words.
One world order!
Its even worse. Suspect is a legal status. So is the “community member” a witness (saw the crime) who was interviewed? Are they a suspect? (reasonable suspicion and more investigation needed) Or are they accused (reasonable suspicion has produced probable cause)
Notice there is no “person of interest”.
So when a Seattle cop writes community member, you know nothing. So you have to then explain their status. This will make more wordy and confusing reports.
The crafted use of language by the enemy communist leftist in the US is very effective.
Even the word that it replaces, “Criminal” is a softened word for what they are. It pushes aside all other descriptives and gives us no idea of what the perpetrator is.
Specifics, such as “Murderer” or “Rapist” have become “Alleged” or just “Criminal”. Even my use of “Perpetrator” is only valid when the context describes the crime. My language is a perfect example of what I’m complaining about.
Today, just a few minutes ago, I got into one my famous rants about the weather. This weekend predictions of “A Nor`easter” are in the headlines. A “Nor`easter” is weather that comes FROM The northeast of New England. Bad weather that travels TOWARDS the northeast is called “Weather”. It all travels in that direction.
Heavy rain does make a nor`easter. Only if the winds are coming from the northeast is it called a nor`easter. But even the weathermen have abandoned that. Now the word is popular and the meaning is lost forever.
By choosing words that don’t describe the murderer, rapist, gang member or whatever what you’re doing is sanding the edges off of the truth here.
We did it with African American as well. Many “African Americans” had no African lineage whatsoever, with most blacks in the US coming from Creole lineage instead.
But it changes everything and makes us totally confused as to what the problem is.. Or when we state what the problem is we’re labelled something appropriate. When I say “Inner city crime is because of blacks” what I’m saying is obviously racist. But if I state the same notion in politically correct terms, that racist label is removed and instead I’ve stated a falsehood.
So changing “Criminal” to anything else is not the beginning, it’s just the next step.
I wonder how they refer to the victim of the community member
Inspired by feminism.
“We are looking for a thing who MAYBE did a thing. We are not allowed to give you a description. Please be on the lookout.”
control the terms of the debate and you control the debate.
Criminals have ip so facto rejected the community so calling them “community members” obfuscated that rejection.
same thing with the term, “assault weapon” - never ever use that term. Say something like defensive rifle.
don’t ever adopt the verbiage of the enemy trying to defeat you.
if you do that you defeat yourself.
one world ODOR
`persons of interest with legal disabilities’
Use of the word "CRIME" will be discontinued.
Who is to say something is a "crime"?
After all - there are no absolutes.
One community member's "crime" may be an other community member's act of liberation or plea for help.
/sarcasm off
How can ANY law be enforced if the perpetrators cannot be identified in the report? Are these people the police are supposed to charge with crimes just random individual that a policeman just happens to grab off the street?
I fail to see what is offensive about calling a spade a spade.
No way to play poker, that’s for sure.
The word “Clinton” is equally offensive, but ‘criminal’ and ‘Clinton’ would be redundant.
Now they can treat everyone like criminals, innocent or guilty, as long as they don’t use the word.
Morally challenged!
Excellent article. But compared to Swedish men, who’s wives make them sit down when they pee, American men are all John Waynes.
What will, America’s Greatest Crime Couple, Hillaryous Rotten Criminal and William Jefferson Criminal say? /s
