It happened Saturday as supporters of President Donald Trump tried to get inside the Capitol to attend a rally — but they were met by counter protesters spreading a different message.
Now, organizers are planning changes after how it all played out.
It was the second time in two months a pro-Trump rally turned violent at the Capitol.
Organizers now want some questions answered by protesters and police before they ever make plans to meet here again.
John Weiss and Dee Dee Buckley looked forward to hearing lawmakers and supporters speak inside the Capitol to mark the president’s first 100 days in office.
“I thought it was going to be a good political event,” Weiss said.
But Weiss and Buckley had no idea how hard it would be to get there.
“The two guys who were blocking me out grabbed a hold of the back of my backpack and flung me down the stairs,” Weiss said. “I fell on my right shoulder, my right hip and my right knee.”
Weiss said it came shortly after another Trump supporter was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head.
“After that had happened too, some of the Antifa, they spat upon me and I did not appreciate that,” Buckley said.
They blame the Antifa for the scuffles. It is estimated a couple hundred members of the anti-fascist group showed up on Saturday.
“Why they were not removed is the question of the day,” Buckley said.
Organizers for the Trump rally said they had a permit to use the space.
More frustration came when those that were hurt asked the Minnesota State Patrol to make arrests or at least take a report. Neither happened on scene.

You wouldn't know, except by reading the entire article carefully, that ALL of the violence was started by the leftist squatters, not the Trump supporters in St Paul.
Obviously we need the OLD DOJ back.
That is the only way WE will get any action.
I distinctly remember a Muslim get yelled at by a bystander and the DOJ under BO investigated the case.
In the cities every time a cop pulled a gun on a ‘protected felon’ DOJ investigated.
I think they even had a special 800 # in place so the ‘protected class’ could bypass the local PDs and report directly to DOJ.
One can only assume that BOs DOJ would be all over actions like the ones taking place now.

The time for accepting violence is over. While you’re at it, haul the State Police into court.
most of those causing problems are paid disrupters. the justice department needs to go after the organizations that have hired thugs.
The anti-trump myopia is preventing them from seeing what they’re sowing.
“Said they had a permit” written deep into the article shows the bias. The existence of a permit should have been verified and then mentioned in one of the first paragraphs. Using the expression “said they had” suggests doubt. The leftist media is all about attempting to deceive (aka lying).

Simple solution...schedule the next 2A rally outside, while the pro-Trump rally is going on inside.
Why does Trump give police respect?
Most police are big union, socialist losers.
To be fair. Im sure the police wanted to do their jobs. But were held back from doing so by their political bosses. The police gets a black eye each and every time they are are made to stand down during incidents like this and they dont like such bad publicity.

You’re right. We need people who aren’t going through the metal detectors to be outside before, during, and after to open the safe lanes that the police can’t seem to do. In fact, the presence of these safety teams would probably get the police to open the lanes.
