I’d like to think that those agents assigned to the Russian influence folly would like to move on to a real case.
There is a subtle change in reporting in this article that is significant.
“...in the midst of an F.B.I. investigation into whether any of the president’s associates had conspired with Russia”
Note that they do not say the investigation is about Trump or even members of the Trump administration.
The way I read that, the agents they talked to (if they did, I think most of their unsourced info is from Chuck Shumers staff), are now claiming that the investigation is now just about the “...president’s associates...”. That could be anyone, the doorman at Trump Tower, anyone that might have once met Trump.
I think firing Comey may be the best thing that could happen. Now the true story of the investigation is leaking, and there is no serious investigation.
A recent observation by Rush Limbaugh re vicious fake news/propaganda to force Trump out of office!

They cite the name of a retired FBI guy here, where they attempt the usual liberal tactic of attributing liberal comments to conservatives... a classic propaganda “appeal to peers.” The also take his comment out of context so it isn’t possible to know what the retired guy was really talking about.
All the agents in the FBI care about is the NY Time’s politics.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch obtained 323 pages of emails between former FBI lovebirds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page showing Comey’s FBI was investigating President Trump over his critical tweets of Barack Obama and the FBI. The FBI is purposely slow-rolling its production of emails to Judicial Watch and only processing 500 pages per month in response to a 2017 FOIA lawsuit. Judicial Watch obtained a March 2017 email Peter Strzok sent his boss Bill Priestap and others about probing President Trump’s tweets about being wiretapped by the FBI. Judicial Watch reported:
