They found out that a few people voted republican and attribute it to not being able to read the ballot.

Yeah. I live in Bakersfield. It’s everywhere. They have no reason to learn English. I think this guy lives in Delano which is mostly Mexican. All our surrounding communities are mostly Mexican. You would think you’re in Mexico when you go to them.

I say if they couldn’t speak the language of our country then too damned bad. They shouldn’t be voting here. Learn to speak the language, or go live in some country their language is the norm.

California voters with limited English language skills were too often left on their own when it came to getting help casting ballots last November, concludes a sweeping new survey based on eyewitness accounts logged by hundreds of election volunteers.

Here’s what I never understand :

1. Legally, one must be an American citizen to vote in the first place.

2. Immigrants coming to America, and becoming citizens, must meet certain requirements. Among those requirements, are having a minimal proficiency of the English language.

3. Thus, anyone voting, by definition, will have a knowledge of English.

4. Given these facts, why is there any need to have ballots in multiple languages, when by definition, anyone voting, will know English??? Anyone who doesn’t have that working knowledge of English wouldn’t be a citizen, and thus would not be qualified to vote in the first place.

Obviously. People who don't speak English should not be allowed to vote in the United States.

more fake news to try to force hiring of paid poll workers for the special people

Every registered voter is mailed an election guide and a sample ballot. These guides are now 250 page books because they are printed in multiple languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog and Vietnamese

The voter guide has also been available online since 1996.

Calif spends $15million to print and send these guides out. So if people can’t figure out how to vote after all that money and effort to accommodate them, they don’t deserve the priviledge.

I work for a place that supplies interpreters. It’s not at all unusual for someone who’s been living here for decades to require a Spanish interpreter. They don’t bother learning English. Why should they? Everything is provided for them in Spanish.

Citizenship is required for voting, English is required for citizenship.
All government business, including voting, should be in English only.

Okay. Then I would suggest they learn some English prior to the next election.
See how simple problem solving is when you use common sense?

I was the first clerk at the polls for a few years in CA and we were always provided with student helpers who spoke Spanish.

English needs to be the official language of the USA by Constitutional amendment. I am sure the usual libtards will p*ss themselves over “rights” of those who have no inclination of assimilation. When the DNC can keep its voters dumb, poor and ignorant it’s a win. To just assume they are and always will be ready made liberal voting bots is a disgrace. I don’t think California is as far gone as some think. Maybe I am delusional but the idea of the state of Jefferson and others is appealing and probably essential for the health of the state and sanity of citizens living in regions with zero representation while living the tyranny.

Massive insanity! Whatever else follows!

If new citizens do not have the English skills to understand our Constitution, what is accomplished simply by having them swear to uphold it?

Is it too radical an idea, that you should not vote until you understand the literal purposes of the offices for which you seek to vote?! Is diluting our heritage now an admitted purpose of the Left--or are the obvious implications of this all too complicated for their limited intelligence?

Seems like, if they are worried about understanding the ballot, they could figure it out ahead of time. This reeks of potential for voter fraud. Just have those people get in a separate line at the polling place, and then they can have the corrupt activist at the “help” table go ahead and mark the ballot for them. This is probably the goal.

You have to speak English to become a citizen.

Would that that were true, but it apparently isn't. I think it was San Francisco, this week, that declare that illegals would be able to vote in local elections.

We have had congressmen trying of over 40 years to declare English the official language, yet here we are. Wha does that tell you about the UniParty?

"We're talking about huge chunks of the illegal alien electorate that are in danger of being disenfranchised", said Jonathan Stein, a staff attorney with Asian Americans Advancing Justice-California.

There. I fixed it.

If it’s free it costs nothing. Californians should check out how their perverted democrat politicians live. Almost everyone lives in a gated community.

Some of the billion$ Californians are spending on education for their “sanctuary state” are itemized in this accounting
http://www.nationaleconomicseditorial.com/2017/02/21/costs-illegal-immigration-california/

If one complains about it they’re called racist! Or points out that if you crossed the border to live in Mexico legally no voting or ownership of property in their own name let alone get any of the other freebee’s. Because it’s America it’s different because it’s a “free country”.

If you can’t speak English you have no business voting in America.
