California voters with limited English language skills were too often left on their own when it came to getting help casting ballots last November, concludes a sweeping new survey based on eyewitness accounts logged by hundreds of election volunteers.
The survey comes from data collected on election day by 576 volunteers who fanned out across 25 California counties, home to communities of voters whose primary languages included Spanish, Chinese and Hindi. In addition to missing ballot samples, volunteers also found spotty use of bilingual poll workers in communities of color where the voting population is so small as to be covered only by the state election mandates, not the federal Voting Rights Act. There, election officials only have to make what the law calls reasonable efforts at finding bilingual poll workers.
Were talking about huge chunks of the electorate that are in danger of being disenfranchised, said Jonathan Stein, a staff attorney with Asian Americans Advancing Justice-California.
And the state will need to do more, too, as counties begin to transition to a new voting system one in which neighborhood polling places are replaced by absentee ballots and a limited number of community vote centers that offer a variety of election services.

Yeah? Something stop them from learning English?
That must explain why demonicRATS won every statewide office in California and a super-majority in The Assembly and Senate along with voting overwhelmingly for Hitlery Rosenberg Clintoon.
I thought one of the requirements of naturalization was being able to understand English.
And this explains why only 118% of the CA vote was for Hillary.
Our local news did a segment on how Mexicans are feeling nervous because of Trump. They interpreted what a guy was saying. Turns out he’s a citizen, has been here 40 years, and doesn’t speak English. Ridiculous.
If they don’t speak English, how the #@!& can they vote?
I recently worked at a warehouse where one guy barely spoke a word of English but, somehow, he was able to secure a $9,000 dollar tax "refund".
If you don’t speak English you have no business voting. You have to speak English to become a citizen.
Whitey is just suppressing the illegal alien vote, I suppose.
Non-English-speaking citizens not voting or voting correctly(Dem obviously) because they cant understand how to is the greatest threat to our Democracy.
But how to fix it?
Why should he speak English? He thinks he’s still in Mexico.................
But, somehow, they are able to secure jobs, vehicles, driver’s licenses, diplomas, homes, lottery tickets, etc.
Well, thats wierd, I can totally fill out a spanish ballot no problem. Though I can see the english spelling of proper nouns causing confusion as being totally different than the spanish spelling
Naturalization?
That’s so Nixonian!
In the modern America illegals don’t need to be naturalized in order to vote or be elected president.

I am sure it still is a requirement.
It is.
WHAT?!?
I’m in California for work right now... I feel like I’m in Mexico! Everybody’s speaking Spanish... I feel like a total foreigner here.
They had to know how to speak and read English to pass the US citizenship test so either someone else took the test for them and/or they aren’t US citizens so aren’t allowed to vote.
Of course, that makes no never mind to the dems.
