The Republican-controlled Texas Legislature passed a Convention of States Resolution, becoming the eleventh. Article V of the U.S. Constitution allows for a Convention of States to restrict the power of the federal government. Texas State Representative Rick Miller (R-Sugar Land), one of the authors of the measure, told Breitbart Texas there were 12 other states in the country waiting to see what Texas was going to do. He says North Carolina is poised to be the next state to pass a resolution.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott tweeted after the House vote, BOOM. Texas has now passed a Convention of States Resolution. Thank you Texas House for todays vote. @COSProject #txlege The Republican-controlled Texas Legislature passed a Convention of States Resolution, becoming the eleventh. 11 ? I thought we were almost there on this
You’re thinking of the single issue Balanced Budget convention. That’s also possible.
It’s a misrepresentation to say that the purpose of an Article V convention is to reign in the government. While that is *the* purpose claimed by the current advocates, it can go the other way, too. When it occurs - and it is looking more likely - we need to be there demonstrating in favor of more restrictions on the government and making sure it isn’t hijacked by progressives and socialists. And there will be violence. This may very well be the trigger that turns our “cold” civil war hot.
If the convention of states is not used to outlaw islam in the USA, those organizing the convention are stupid!!!!
Best thing to do would be to dissolve the union, then reconstitute it . . . slowly, state by state—with some states not welcome.
Texas has passed its resolution using Georgia's application language.
And now there are 11: AL, AK, AZ, FL, GA, IN, LA, ND, OK, TN, TX.
The count is now 11 down, 23 to go.
Ya Hoo!
For states applying for a convention to address a balanced budget amendment only, the count is 29 down, 5 to go.
Rein in? How about rope and hog-tie them?
Slowly but surely...
Outstanding!
OOPS! poster atlasROCKED...(pg. 2 in this link)...
Butchered and quartered would be better
