Negotiators reach $1-trillion deal to fund govt. but provide little for Trump's priorities
The Los Angeles Times ^ | April 30, 2017 | Lisa Mascaro

Congressional negotiators reached a bipartisan deal late Sunday to fund the federal government through September, easing the threat of a shutdown but denying President Trump several key priorities — including money for his promised border wall with Mexico.

The estimated $1-trillion omnibus package would provide $12.5 billion in increased military funding, about half the amount Trump requested from Congress. Another $2.5 billion for defense is available if the administration submits a counter-terrorism strategy to fight Islamic State.

But the final deal failed to include the big cuts to domestic non-defense accounts that Trump was seeking, and thus emerged as something of an embarrassment to the White House in his first budget negotiation with Congress.

It actually would increase federal spending on medical research, green energy programs and other areas that the White House had pegged for sharp reductions. Under it, the National Institutes of Health would see an increase of 6%, or $2 billion....

Like I said, what is congress for lately? All legislation is driven by the executive branch. No actual appropriated budgets for a decade now. Executive Orders to govern.

VEEEEEEEEEE TOE THAT BI PARTISAN CRAP.

We don’t need bipartisanship, we control both chambers. VETO IT AND PLACE THE BLAME ON THE DEMS. WE ARE IN CONTROL NOW, THIS IS THE BUDGET. NUF SAID.

Now, there may be some republicans that don’t want to play ball....its time to start CRUSHING THEM and at the same time making deals with demonrats who want to come out of the dark side. Tell them we won’t run anyone against them if they vote our way.

But to those republicans who want to be perfect and so damn picky about everything....WE DIDN’T GIVE THE GOP TOTAL CONTROL SO THEY COULD ACT LIKE WE DIDN’T. By God, I bet if we had 70 senators and 300 reps we still would not be able to pass crap.

Trump needs to start a TRUMP RATING SYSTEM for GOPers. And publish it every damn stinking week.

There are countless ways to force Mexico to pay for the wall so make Mexico pay for the ****ing wall. Seize the assets of drug dealers to pay for the wall. Impose a tax on wire transfers to Mexico. Take the money from the obstinate sanctuary cities. Raise the fees for applying for Visas. Put in toll booths at the border. Fine the shit out of companies caught hiring illegals. put a tariff on Mexican imports. Make Mexico pay for the ****ing wall!

None of that is going to even be needed. A wall will stop a lot of activity which is currently harmful to both Mexico and the USA.

It’s a guaranteed great investment. The trouble that it will keep us from having from Mexico will pay for the wall. And as a bonus to Mexico, America will have to feed its dope habits some other way, and any remaining clandestine Mexican drug activity will now be for domestic (Mexico) consumption only.

These aholes in DC will drag their feet indefinitely. They need a fire lit under the a55es. The wall is non-negotiable AFAIC. One way or the other, it gets built and it gets built right and it gets incorporated as part of a broader overall strategy.

Well let the bastards sue the executive branch. By the time the law suit gets to through the courts the wall will be built.

They. Are. Not. Republicans.

They are Democrats that knew they could only win if they ran as Republicans in areas that vote Republican.

It’s as simple as that.

There’s no other way to explain it.

“VEEEEEEEEEE TOE THAT BI PARTISAN CRAP.”

Wish to God that every wicked Congressman that voted for this crap would be tried and executed publicly for crimes against humanity.

They should not be merely removed from office. They should not be put in prison. They should have their heads on pikes.

THEY FUNDED PLANNED PARENTHOOD!!!

THEY DID NOT FUND THE WALL!!!

This stupid bill has more Republicans than Democrats voting for it.

I am beyond outraged.

Please someone tell me this is fake news.

Please tell me that somehow Planned Parenthood will be defunded in reconciliation or something.

Otherwise I reject the legitimacy of this government. These traitors and enemies of mankind need to be removed by ANY means necessary.

If we do not remove them, it is an insult to the founders AND the British tyrants who weren’t a tenth as bad as the villains running this nation.

We put up with this kind of crap non-stop under Obama. And now we are seeing more of the same in spite of the clear message we sent to Washington. If they refuse to listen, then Civil War 2 / Revolution 2 needs to commence now, because later will still have to happen but will only be worse.

Can anyone justify the actions of Congress?

Okay you guys, calm down. Withdraw fangs. This budget is for this past year. In September a real budget for FY 2018 will be submitted. It will not be a Continuing Resolution, but a real, actual budget, and therefore different rules apply. The Dems won’t be able to block diddley squat in September’s new FY Budget, and then Pres Trump will get his full funding for The Wall, and the Dems won’t be able to stop it.

That’s approximately 4 months from now folks, so keep your big boy pants on, it’s only 4 months until you will get what you want, and in the interim, the finalists of the bids to build The Wall will be chosen, models of each submission will be built at finalists’ expense, the winner(s) will be chosen, and then the real Wall can start to be built at the end of this year. A Christmas present, as it were.

So the next 4 months will be occupied by these necessary steps and will fly by. Then The Wall gets funded in a real budget for FY 2018, and you will all have what you want. Trump knows all this, and knows he will get The Wall funded in September, so he and his Admin are not all bent out of shape like too many of you folks are.

Develop a little patience for heaven sakes. Trump has been in office 3 months; you got that, 3 months. In September when The Wall will be funded, unimpeded by Dem shenanigans, it will only have been 7 months Trump will have been in office. So basically, cool your jets, relax, any concessions that Trump/Pubs have to make now, will be corrected and funded in September.

And that’s when PP can be dealt with, the EPA, and anything else that needs to funded, or defunded. You are not waiting for an eternity; you are waiting until September of this year. Sheesh.

This budget is short term....through September...

In the meantime, there is much going on within each Department.....looking for changes for the next round.

Sometimes change takes a little longer than we wish. Just hang on.
