Trump at NRA: We’ll Build the Wall
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | April 28, 2017 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Donald Trump is addressing the NRA, and he just told the attendees here that we will build the wall. We are going to build the wall. He got a massive round of applause. But the point is, he reasserted it yet again, which, remember, there aren’t a whole lot of members of Congress who want to build the wall. Senators, as I reported yesterday, are openly laughing about the idea. “It’ll never happen. You believe Trump will build this wall?” Five or six of them laughing about it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Grab sound bite number 22 quickly. Here’s Trump and his comment on the wall at the NRA convention. This is moments ago.

WATCH LIVE: President Trump addresses NRA national convention

THE PRESIDENT: We’ve already seen a 73% decrease — never happened before — in illegal immigration on the southern border since my election, 73%. (cheers) You see what they’re doing, right? “So why do you need a wall?” We need a wall. We’ll build the wall. Don’t even think about it. Don’t even think about it. Don’t even think about it. That’s an easy one. We’re gonna build the wall. We need the wall.

RUSH: And if you heard, it was audience members there shouting, “Build it! Build the wall!” And that’s what Trump was responding to and reacting to. Now, the reason that they were on this at the NRA convention is that Trump wanted a billion dollars in the budget extension from now ’til September to get started building the wall. And he was told by the Democrats, “You can’t do that. We’ll shut down the government. We’re not gonna give you the money for the wall.”

So Trump said, “Okay, okay, well, we’ll tighten up security elsewhere.” And the Democrats went along with spending more money for that. And he said we’ll get to the wall when we redo the budget again in September. People are getting a little nervous. The wall’s a signature promise. If it keeps being put off, it’s gonna be a problem, and Trump’s trying to assure them they’ve got nothing there to worry about.

Two paths:

1. EVERY bad guy in Middle East dead, no wall

2. EVERY bad guy in Middle East undisturbed, but strong, tall WALL

I’ll choose Plan #2 EVERY time.

The guy is not backing down on the wall.

He wants it.

We want it.

He says he’s going to do it, and yet we get folks saying, “You better do it or else. You promised and I’m outa here if you don’t.”

You just have to wonder if folks can understand common English.

We know what he has to deal with in Congress.

He’s on our side folks, and he does get it. Relax.

I’ll believe it when I see it and not a minute before. I maintain at this stage it would literally take secession to get an effective wall built that wouldn’t be torn to the ground 10 minutes after he leaves office.

I seen a report somewhere that many of the Border Patrol Officers would prefer a wall that they could see threw. That would make it easier to see what is going on the other side. Is this true?

Likely true. I’d do a double lined fence with the outer fence closer to Mexico where the border patrol can drive in between the the two that they can see threw.

Yes, despite the usual “Are we there yet” crowd who have ants in their pants. He’ll get it done sooner or later. The Swamp still gets drained albeit slower than the impatient children can stand.

Have people thought about tunnels? Maybe having a canal against the wall?

I would like to see a set of two walls with the area in between filled with cactus, deadly snakes, scorpions and punji stakes!

The design phase is already proceeding as bids for the wall are being received and evaluated. Trump isn’t losing time because he doesn’t have construction money yet. The wall can’t be built until the design phase is completed. And you can bet that there will be lawsuits trying to stop it along with environmental impact statements. Trump knows how it all works. Thank God for eminent domain.

I believe Trump will keeping trying to build the wall. I don’t see him giving up. But there is an opportunity here. These Senators need to be forced on the record opposing the Wall. Their challengers can play the Senators opposition to the Wall over and over in the 2018 election. Let the folks back home know what their Senator is doing in DC

We keep hearing illegal immigration is down bla bla % bla for a reason. The
media is shouting it to give the GOPe cover to stop the wall. I have heard several sources say GOP Senators actually laugh at the suggestion. Talk about utter contempt for the base and the POTUS. Trump should call these
traitors out. Isolate them, shame them. If we’re going to get the wall Trump will have to fight like hell for it, even then it seems like a long shot. Make the Rats and the rinos pay a huge price if Trump is forced to get be up one his biggest promises.

That’s how I see it, and so far his actions have stayed pretty much true to his promises.

There is one exception I’m not happy about, but it’s one among many things he has already addressed.

Unless we’re going to go cynic for the rest of his term based on that one thing, we should trust the man.

You’ve described it as I see it. Gosh, some of our folks have a patience of a two year old and the mental faculties of a five year old.

“Gosh, some of our folks have a patience of a two year old and the mental faculties of a five year old.”

A mistreated dog will cringe when you reach out to pet it.

Some of us have been lied to so much that we are hypersensitive to anything that might mean that we’ve been backstabbed again.

Sliding an Obunghole guy in as the head of the VA, for instance. That should never have happened.

What’s more amazing than Trump’s wall talk is how Paul Ryano and the Douche nipple Congress leaves Trump twisting in the wind over this. F the Congress. Useless. No support WHAT’S SO EVER.

I can identify with those sorts of mistrust.

We’ve seen it all, haven’t we.

Trump is a strange political entity. He doesn’t claim to be Conservative or Leftist. What we have observed him implementing is essentially our political dreams come true.

Now I realize there have been some bumps in the road already. I will still submit he’s done about 90% of what he said he would by this point.

Many folks were saying that if he did 30 to 45% of what he promised, he’d be a great president. He’s at about 90% and still working. We’ll have to wait and see.

I’m very confident in him based on what I’ve seen so far.

If he goes off the path, we’re all going to say something, and that is as it should be.

We laughingly talked about Obama getting an 8 year honeymoon from the press. Some folks here haven’t given Trump more than a few weeks. We’re at 90 days and some folks are grading him a “C” at this point. That’s crazy talk > IMO.

Yes, we see an appointment we recognize as Obama’s and it bothers us. I can identify with that too. My bottom line is, what does that department do? Is it going to implement Trump “Our” policy? I suspect so. He’s not missing much.

He’s got the DofEducation on the line now. If I remember correctly, that’s run by another Lefty now. Trump is still pushing his agenda there, demanding a review of the K-12th grade programs.

Hey, as long as he continues that sort of thing, I’m fine with folks I never would have appointed.

Take care.
