Russia and Turkey held joint naval drills in the Black Sea region Wednesday as the nations found themselves aligned with opposing sides in conflicts in Europe and the Middle East.

Russia's Black Sea Fleet joined the Turkish navy in the strategic body of water, which has been a source of heightened tensions due to parallel military exercises by Russia and members of NATO, of which Turkey was a part. Russia deployed its Kalibr cruise missile-equipped Admiral Grigorovich frigate, Udaloy-class Vice Admiral Zakharin destroyer and Raptor patrol boat to participate in the operations while Turkey sent its Barbados frigate and the Ada-class Buyukada corvette. Vyacheslav Trukhachev, the spokesperson for Russia's Black Sea Fleet, said the vessels trained for joint defense and rescue operations.

"As part of the drill, ships of the two countries practiced… exit from a naval base, joint maneuvering and communication, as well as repelling an attack of a small-sized high-speed target, an inspection operation, search for and rescue of a person in the water," Trukhachev told reporters, according to Russia's Sputnik News.

Russia and Turkey, along with the U.S., are the major international powers directly involved in Syria's six-year civil war. Moscow has assisted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad regain control of most of the country's population primarily through air strikes supporting the Syrian army and allied militias. Ankara intervened in August to back Syrian rebels, who have tried to overthrow Assad since 2011, but have been beset by a number of losses partially due to violent infighting with jihadist groups, Russia's intervention and a decline in Western support...

It is increasingly clear that Russia is building a military coalition in the Middle East. With boots on the ground in Syria, Egypt, and Libya, and strong military agreements with Iran, Turkey, and Egypt, it appears that the Russian Bear is bringing order to the chaos wrought by the Obama administration.

Russian Troops in Egypt and Libya

The question is why? To simply bring order? No! Russia, like all other countries, never acts out of altruism. To counter NATO? This may be part of the equation. How about the preposterous idea of attacking Israel? Before you dismiss this notion, consider this...with declining global oil prices, the only export keeping the distorted Russian economy afloat is natural gas. Israel's enormous natural gas discoveries (Tamar and Leviathan gas fields) off the coast of Haifa represent the the single greatest threat to Russian gas hegemony in Europe. To ignore this threat is to risk financial collapse to a Russian economy completely dependent on oil and gas exports.

Israeli Gas fields a Risk to Russian Gas Hegemony

For the last 2500 years, the Holy Bible has predicted that in the latter years a Russian led confederacy would move against Israel driven by an economic motive. Until now, an attack seemed somewhat unlikely because since Israel's rebirth in 1948, it has had a relatively poor standing in the world economy. However that may be changing quickly as Israel becomes the major gas exporter to a gas starved Europe. Additionally, the recent radical Islamic takeovers of Turkey, Libya, and Iran as mortal enemies of the Jews make the likelihood of war much greater. Remember, democracies are much less likely to make war because of reelection concerns. Dictatorships have no such constraints...

Ezekiel 38:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech (Moscow) and Tubal (Tubalsk), and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (Moscow) and Tubal (Tubalsk): 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: 5 Persia (Iran), Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6 Gomer (Turkey), and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (Turkey) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. 7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. 8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. 9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee. 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land. 13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? 14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee...

The Bible clearly tells us, that no one comes to Israels aid.

Which Israels defense coming from God, is abundantly clear.

With Zero in office, there was no way that the US would have defended Israel.

Now that he's out and we have a real POTUS, it makes me wonder where we are at at that time?

First: Because we don't come to Israels aid.
Second: Because Russia would be so emboldened to attack Israel.

Russia can't go toe to toe with us in a conventional war.

Some how the US would need to be neutralized.

Could be a US/NK/ China war.

Or, if a pre trib rapture, that would remove a lot of conservatives from the US, giving libs free reign.

Great points! Or a natural disaster? Financial collapse? Somehow the US is not in the picture...

We’ve had many a natural disaster.
What kind of disaster would cripple the entire country?

A financial collapse here, would reverberate around the world.

I’m not disagreeing with you.
Just pointing out, that though things are lining up, things will be majorly different than what we are used to.

I agree.

Though I have always heard Russia involved with the two, I believe the real key is Turkey.

10 years ago, Israel and Turkey were quite friendly.

Things have spiraled down, rapidly.

Turkey is part of NATO. Something about that should be worked on yesterday.

They might currently be part of NATO, but their hostility towards the US and their chumminess with Russia speak differently.

Do we really think NATO is relevant any more?
