Money quote:
Presumably, he meant the in-your-face world of conservative cable news with its mega personalities. Indeed, James regarded many of the people at Fox News as thuggish Neanderthals and said he was embarrassed to be in the same company with them.
Looks like the scion of Rupert is going to kill the golden goose. Imagine Shephard Smith types 24/7.

There’s one idiot in every family. Still a great new opportunity when Fox tries to swing left into a crowded left of center field.

Well, FNC and its Business News had a good run, but like everything leftists touch, it will go to shit now.
What bothers me is there is no current right leaning main stream news outlet other than FNC.
Maybe it will create a vacuum for a company such as OANN to come in to fill that void and make billions while FNC fades into nothingness. If we’re lucky the good people at FNC will migrate over to the new company that takes FNC’s place. It will probably start as a trickle then a rush then a flood of those exiting the hobbled and sinking FNC (by that time). Then FNC will be nothing more than another in a sea of fake news outlets like CNN.
All because some spoiled entitled brat of the owner (Rupert) wasn’t raised right.

James dream, wherein he hopes to match his fathers accomplishments, and which he has been spinning for all who might listen for many years now, is of combining Sky News and Fox News with the vast Murdoch reach and producing some ultimate global news brand. Where Fox News is parochial and America First, the new global brand is worldly and unlimited.
It will give his familys company, once the pirate company, new meaning and new stature a force for stability instead of upheaval.
Murdoch media, in an age of populist disruption, will stand for the established world order.

It has nothing to do with BOR; it’s the trend and direction the far left james murdoch, the metrosexual, is planning on taking FNC.
The thing with BOR and Ailes are symptoms. They should have fought those ugly women into bankruptcy.

Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch have fired Fox News pundit Bill O’Reilly who will not be returning to the network April 24th at the conclusion of his vacation. Meh.
Fox News has announced the decision to move Tucker Carlson to the 8:00pm slot and shift their 5:00pm program “The Five” to the 9:00pm hour. The centerpiece of the panel show, Eric Bolling, will remain at 5:00pm with his own hour long program.
Effective April 24th the line-up appears to look like this:
5:00pm – Eric Bolling
6:00pm – Brett Baier Special Reports
7:00pm – Martha MacCallum (temp 100 days)
8:00pm – Tucker Carlson
9:00pm – The Five
10:00pm – Sean Hannity
More than likely this line-up will not work long-term.
The Fox Show “The Five” is not ideologically aligned between Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity. The Five show is fraught with inconsequential gnat banter and provides no substantive intellectual perspectives to warrant a prime-time following.
The 9:00pm hour will fail because gnat banter is shallow and solid prime-time political/consequential news requires newsworthy guests to discuss important topics and intellectual discussion. Absent intelligent and stimulative guests, people tune out. Roger Ailes knew this key and critical aspect of constructing political TV viewership.
No-one cares about the opinion of the “The Five” annoying gnats who collectively end up tuned out because their voices instinctively force the eardrum to protect itself and the broadcast ends up sounding like a round table of Charlie Brown’s teachers: “wauh, wauh, wauh”. Additionally, everyone already knows the opinions and tastes of the cucumber and mayonnaise on wonder-bread punditry.
Wait,.. was that my outside voice?

And his drawers too. I hope the joint goes under. If I want to watch CNN I’ll watch CNN......not CNN-lite which is what this punk is going for.

This is bad in the sense that one needs only accusations to bring down ANYONE (be he large or small). The left grew tired of being second place and vowed to make their voices heard. So flash, Bill a goner. Tucker and Hannity would be the next two on that list. FOX travels to the dark side; we watch in anticipation as they trip over their two left feet.
Choices for US are slipping. Now is the time for All Good Men to come to the aid of our country. OAN, Right Side, any ideas?

What a complete a**hole! Pompous, elite and arrogant in his ignorance.
These two Murdoch are dismantling, diluting and destroying a very successful network, out of ‘Daddy-Envy’.
I keep waiting for a well monied conservative to start their own mostly conservative network. Whoever takes up the challenge, needs to know how to work the media. President Trump knows, but he’s got stuff to do for the next seven years.
One America News Network remains mostly invisible.
Nobody ever talks about what happens on this network.
Why? Because they don’t ever make the news.
That’s the easiest way to network dominance today; develop a brand or corporate personality that is vivid and instantly knowable. Mix in a few controversial interviews and quotations, add twitter and Facebook reactions to these quotations, shake, bake and exhibit.
To: C19fan
“as he moves to reinvent the family company’s profit machine at great risk.”
That is correct. Right now they pretty much have the Conservative market to themselves. Now going left they will be going after the same viewers as CNN, MSNBC and the others.
To: V K Lee
“The Five” is a deadly bore for me and I usually don’t want to stay up must after 10 p.m. Although irritating, BOR could always be interesting. Megan could even be enjoyable, especially when she wasn’t running her personal jihad against DJT. These changes suck.
To: Boomer
Yeah. I expect FBN to go down the crapper soon too. Everything libs touch turns to crap.

“FNC will be nothing more than another in a sea of fake news outlets like CNN.”
FNC has never been a REAL news-gathering organization. They have almost no paid national or international correspondents. They’ve been enormously profitable with minimal expenses by pretending to be a news organization, when in fact they truly are nothing but a bunch of talking heads regurgitating news gathered by other organizations that had to pay to get that news.
However, FNC managed to compensate for the above slight-of-hand by attracting a loyal audience desperate for conservative viewpoints completely absent from all the other media. Without actual news, and without these nonconformist viewpoints, FNC ends up having nothing to offer their current audience, and no matter what FNC ends up doing, they will NEVER attract the Progs who lap up the slops at CNN and MSNBC.
James is nuking the one and only thing unique about FNC: a conservative viewpoint. FNC is dead, they just don’t know it yet.

Sometimes execs do stupid things. CBS cancelled The Beverly Hillbillies even though it was still highly rated because they didn’t like being associated with such lowbrow entertainment. They did the same with other “rural themed” shows.
