Saudi Arabia will start reviewing a number of multi-billion-dollar infrastructure and development projectremnants from a better past when crude oil prices were in three-digit territory. Some of these, according to government sources, will be shelved and others will be restructured.
The review is part of urgent reforms prompted by the oil price rout from 2014, which saw Saudi Arabia plunge into a budget deficit for the first time in its history. As part of efforts to reform the oil-reliant economy, last year Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman removed from their positions the Kingdoms long-serving oil and finance ministers, Ali al-Naimi and Ibrahim al-Assaf.
At the time, the Finance Minister defended these same megaprojects that will now be scrutinized by the Bureau of Capital and Operational Spending Rationalization, saying that when the investment decisions were made, the economic outlook was very different from where it was in 2016.

They tried to use their power to bring prices back up only to find out they don’t have that power any more. And they are weakening by the month.
If not for oil, they would be another Sudan. And if they don’t invest wisely, they will return to that state.
Severe austerity. Coming to a country near you. Actually coming to the country you live in.
If only our government would do the same.
But they’ll still have the Hajj by the Rock. A couple of thermobaric goodies could turn that event into a Burning Man-Mid East festival.
How will Lindsey and McCain get by on a smaller allowance?
Well I guess no more solid gold toilets or 747 flights to transport sheep when they go on vacations.
Does this mean they will be slowing down the construction of Mosque all over the world?
They have already built more than 2000 of these Islamic military garrisons and armory’s in the USA.
ESAD ‘S’ stands for... sand
I have long wished the Saudis revert back to camel humping. While I understand the strategic importance of our AF bases there, I would hope Trump asks the Joint Chiefs if we could move them elsewhere. Don't know the politics of United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen or Jordan, but they may be options. I'm willing to spend more tax dollars to move out of that misogynistic monarchy. The Saudis are NOT our friends, and we know longer need their oil.
The above said, I don't want to see the monarchy fall so much that ISIS or others take control as in Libya and Egypt after Obama's and Hillary's "Most Excellent Adventure" in their designed "Arab Spring".
Actually, the Saudi monarchy has vast holdings around the world. They own or control many US corporations. Personally, I'd like to see those holdings frozen, but that will never happen as long as the US considers them an ally in the WOT.
I worked with some muslim workers (1995?)and ask about their mosque.
They were shia, and said there was one in Detroit, none around chicago. The saudis built the rest.
They said it would be fatal to walk into the wrong mosque, they form their hands differently, a dead giveaway.

Interesting observation. I wonder if such is visibly identifiable within the organized street prayers and protest marches when they stop-drop-pray-antagonize-general public.
I couldn’t recall the details, but google does.
While talking to a Sunni who wants to know your sectarian branch, will first ask you how you offer prayers - by folding your arms or keeping them by your sides. A Shiia might ask the same question in a similar situation. This is because Sunnis fold their arms while offering prayers and Shiias keep their arms by their sides. http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=3212.0;wap2
Could the cut backs be why Al Qaeda is playing nice with ISIS? Funding’s being cut to the bone.
That means Saudi Aramco will be cutting back on expenses. Suppliers like Schneider Electric, Emerson and others are going to get hurt including potential layoffs.
Shutterstock video clips reveal the shia stand and pray with arms extended at sides.
Whereas the Sunni are seen with their arms across their chests as here:

Linda will have to start buying her makeup at Walmart and McIsane will have to start hitting Old Crow instead of champagne.
except, Saudi Arabia is our very long standing ally
