What such bombs do:
1. An aluminum particle containing fuel cloud spreads out
2. A small explosion sets it off
So:
If you had two or more networked bombs and very fine timing between the two, couldn’t a similar but much larger cloud be spread by MORE than one bomb..?
It seems to me this bomb model lends itself to scalability.
Wouldn’t play for me.
Why?
Very important information being discussed in this podcast.
Some of the principles have recently spoken to Congress about situations regarding ISIS in various places.
WTH is this stupid crap ?
Did you listen?
from an earlier post: Massive Ordnance Air Blast, is the correct name; the acronym spelled out The Mother of All Bombs, is over used and misguiding if not flaunting journalistic immaturity.
Thanks.I subscribed to the podcast.
I was still too busy reading “Pearl Harbor from the Japanese Viewpoint” to read this.
If you would listen, the title is not what the podcast is about at all.
We are required here at FR to post the actual title of articles. In this case it does not give an accurate indication of the content at all.
If you would listen, you might learn some important things.
The correct name is probably "mother of all bombs". That's the real name. Then the bureaucrats came up with a safe boring pseudo-name that fit the acronym. That's how this stuff works. :-)
You are very correct. This MOAB thought hellishly deadly could be even more effective if multiple bombs over the target area. These bombs kill by thermobarics heat and over pressure. If just one central bomb the thermobaric heat and over pressure is extreme, in fact rather wasted. Multiple munitions would be even more deadly. However the MOAB is just not a bomb, it is a statement that says, "I will kill you today." I like the MOABs.
That is interesting. I did not know that the acronym was for something that is more descriptive of the ordnance.
Do you know the origin of Mother of All Bombs alternate meaning? Is it military jargon?
2. A small explosion sets it off
MOAB is not a FAE or thermobaric bomb. It's fill is RDX, TNT, and aluminum powder. The powder does not spread out, it goes in the single detonation.
Nice to see another John Batchelor fan on FR. easily the best radio program on the air.
Thank you..!
Got my wires crossed.
I believe it was Saddam H. that warned the invasion of Iraq would result in “The mother of all battles”.
