Deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland dodged on Sunday when asked whether President Trump plans to name her as the U.S. ambassador to Singapore, saying only that there are changes coming.
McFarlands status in the Trump administration has been in question following the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn, who reportedly chose her for the job. Flynn resigned in February after misleading Vice President Pence and the public about his conversations with a Russian diplomat.
The president and I have had a number of conversations over the last two months, really, about what my role would continue to be and where I could be best used for what his vision is of foreign policy, McFarland told host Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. So I can tell you we talked about it again last night and there are changes coming, but Im not going to tell you what they are. Youve gotten enough secrets out of me this day.
ADVERTISEMENT H.R. McMaster replaced Flynn as the White House national security adviser.
When Wallace pressed McFarland about whether she will be reassigned after the shake-up, she said Trump selected her for the position, not Flynn.

The Hill can’t be trusted any further than you can kick it.
I used to Singapore, but then I practiced and got better.
Thank you. I think I could grow to like Singapore, if it weren’t basically 95 degrees and 100% humidity all the time.
I haven’t even been outside of this hemisphere.
Very good! Word play of the day, with a Sicilian accent.
I hada the same athinga, ahappena to mea.
Given what is going on over there, that’s an important posting, is it not?
I have always liked K.T. She seems like a real person, not someone playing a part.
Any administration that includes her to an influential degree, will be a more powerful and well run administration.
I won’t ever meet her, and can only judge by what I see on TV, but she appears very savvy and seems very able.
Obama had savvy and able people working for him too, (albeit to the detriment of the American people) but most of them gave the ominous impression of being angry all the time, and it was never clear what the source of that anger really was. I’m speaking of folks like Samantha Power, Jeh Johnson, Mystery Man Plouffe and Brennan, the Muslim CIA head.
KT is a very warm, very nice person in Real Life.
I agree with you on every point!
I’ve always liked her too!
