The Mail Online website and the Daily Mail newspaper published an article on 20th August 2016 about Melania Trump which questioned the nature of her work as a professional model, and republished allegations that she provided services beyond simply modelling. (...)
We accept that these allegations about Mrs Trump are not true and we retract and withdraw them. We apologise to Mrs Trump for any distress that our publication caused her. To settle Mrs Trump's two lawsuits against us, we have agreed to pay her damages and costs.

This is why people shouldn’t take The Daily Mail so seriously. It is often spectacularly wrong in National Enquirer fashion. Sometimes they get it right. Brits don’t call it The Daily Fail for nothing.
Daily Mail did a better job covering the 2016 campaigns than any U.S. paper did.
Wow.
Though you will have to admit, that is a very low bar.
Can’t un-ring a bell.
A$$holes.
LOL, far better than any retraction of a slander of conservatives done by The New York Times.
The NYT won’t do one at all, and if they did, it would be on page 16 (if that POS rubbish rag still has that many pages) next to a retraction about a misidentified bird sighting in Central Park.
David Martosko of the Mail:
Covered Donald Trump well in the campaign and continues same today.
The Daily Mail is embarrassed. No comments allowed at article. I wonder how much in damages they paid. This is a big win for the Trumps. Other media rags will be hesitant to publish defamatory crap.
They did wrong, they paid for it, their apology was straightforward.....
I’m not ashamed to admit I love reading the Daily Mail.
As far as calling it the “Daily Fail”, I laugh because they are no less accurate or truthful than any of the supposed credible Media outlets out there.
You just need to read the DM Trump headlines to get the bias and slant.
They are propagandists who often cannot spell or put a coherent sentence together.
Wow..no kidding...might be a record
I like reading them because they use a lot of pics.
It’s a winning family.
So much winning.
I bet Melania’s lawyer wrote it and Mail printed it verbatim.
“Other media rags will be hesitant to publish defamatory crap.”
Possibly, but bear in mind this lawsuit was brought in the British courts, which have much tougher libel laws than the US. I don’t see it doing much to change any of the rubbish the MSM spews here.
Excellent! And that was quick.
