She seemed like a good person and 95 years ain’t a bad run.

Oh, that’s too bad.
Seemed very nice and was hilarious...
She won. There is no other way to put it. At life, she won. 95. We should all be so fortunate.
This is about the passing of his mother. I have no reason to dance on her grave, but others are certainly welcome to - if they really must.
I’m sorry to hear that. I used to enjoy when she was on the show. Of course, I stopped watching Letterman after he could no longer even attempt to hide his searing dislike of Republicans.
I truly loathed David Letterman with the force of a million suns and a recent book that just came out confirms what a miserable SOB he was. The interesting part is that is almost the same thing story as his hero, Johnny Carson. A funny, likable guy on camera, but a miserable, SOB off camera.
Letterman’s show in the ‘80s was amazing. Watching old ones on YouTube now, it seems almost as clever and fresh now as it was then. The comedy talk shows have gotten much stiffer, self-important and formulaic now. You don’t see someone decide now, seemingly on a whim, that the studio is too hot and they’ll broadcast the show from the NBC offices instead.
Dave was incredibly freewheeling with the format in the ‘80s and it was a truly unpredictable, amusing show. Like a lot of creative people, he lost his touch in his later years and forgot what got him where he was. His personal problems seemed to have gone unaddressed and therefore only got worse until he became so self-loathing he no longer even cared if his show was any good. And of course self-loathing directly leads to being liberal.
Using his mom on the show was part of his unorthodox use of the format and his elevation of “regular people” to on-air personalities. She was very sweet to play along. R.I.P. Mrs. Letterman.
RIP Mrs. Letterman, she seems to be a sweet woman. I loved The Letterman Show back in the 80’s. It was so funny and David also. Especially when his mom appear, or Larry Bud Melman or those 2 Indian guys. Loved David’s Stupid Pet Tricks or walking thru a neighborhood.
As David got older he became cranky and it showed. Who knows if it was due to David not getting the Johnny Carson show. I guess he felt he should gotten that show instead of Jay Leno.
Bless her heart
I liked Rush Limbaughs momma too
When she’d call in she was so sweet
And you knew listening to her voice that Rush was actually a southerner even though his voice didn’t betray it
My first love....a cousin to Sheryl Crow was from close to there and very delta belle in speech and manners
Feel sorry for Dave’s mom.
For Dave? Not so much... He’s an a$$hole.
Most of the comedy left Dave’s show with the departure of Chris Elliot, one of the main writers of his early shows. Chris was a total crackup in those days. Dave, not so much.
Bump for later.
To bad she has died.To bad her son is a POS
All I know about her is that her son is a grade A doosh.
I liked Dave’s mom. Dave, not so much. RIP, Dorothy.
If you like Chris Elliot, you will love his appearances on the cult cable series "Schitt's Creek". It stars Harold Levy, Katherine O'Hara, Elliott, and two of Levy's grown children, and is the funniest thing I've seen in years.
