I may not be "Amish," if you get my gist.

People forget European soccer fans--especially the Ultras--make even the worst sports fans in the USA look civilized in comparison. Violent acts against opposing teams--especially in soccer--is sadly the norm, and after what happened at Heysel Stadium in 1985 when 39 fans were killed, English soccer teams were banned from UEFA European competition until the fall of 1991.

Looks like Barca has Juve right where they want them....they only have 3 goals to make up this time.

It’s really bad in the Slavic countries. Legia Warsaw had to play some of their Europa League games in empty stadiums because of the behavior of their fans.

Sorry, but I think you may be barking up the wrong tree for this one.

First I’m pretty sure this game was IN Dortmund, second, this just doesn’t fit the “soccer hooligan/ultra template”, especially for either team’s supporters.

Correct. Ultras are more like street gangs.

My nephew is in Paris right now and will be in Madrid this weekend - he’s going to the Athleti/Osasuna game on Saturday.

While I’m sure he is/will be fine, I know this makes his mom/aunt (my wife) nervous.

It appears that soccer hooliganism is a HUGE problem in any country where soccer is the leading sport. It's a major problem in Europe, Africa and South America, a bit of problem in Mexico's Liga MX (especially between Club America and C.D. Guadalajara supporters), and we know there was a war in Central America due to the result of a soccer game!

That stuff is mostly ancient history.

In England it is, mainly because tickets to Premier League games are so darned expensive, it keeps out the hooligans.

Remember the Paris Attacks started by a bomb at the Germany-France game at the Stade de France.

Terrorism wouldn’t be a stretch here. Several fans were shot dead in Iraq a while ago in a cafe just for watching a game.

We lived in Italy in 70’s. We saw a lot of Roma games and a lot of Lazio games, but my dad would never let us see them play each other (they shared Stadio Olympico). Derby games were known to be spirited..

ESPN FC said Marc Bartra, former Barcelona players, was badly injured, hand and arm and was in surgery in hospital.
