North Korea Threatens U.S. With Nuclear Attack At Any Sign Of Pre-Emptive Strike

With the USS Carl Vinson carrier group steaming toward the Korean peninsula for what some speculate may be to launch a "decapitation" strike on the Kim Jong-Un regime, on Tuesday North Korean state media threatened the US with a nuclear attack at any sign of a U.S. pre-emptive strike, and warned it is ready for "war" as Washington tightened the screws on the nuclear-armed state.

USS Carl Vinson carrier group

North Korea's official Rodong Sinmun newspaper said the country was prepared to respond to any aggression by the United States. "Our revolutionary strong army is keenly watching every move by enemy elements with our nuclear sight focused on the U.S. invasionary bases not only in South Korea and the Pacific operation theatre but also in the U.S. mainland," it said.

The North's foreign ministry, in a statement carried by its KCNA news agency, said the U.S. navy strike group's approach showed America's "reckless moves for invading had reached a serious phase".

"We never beg for peace but we will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by powerful force of arms and keep to the road chosen by ourselves," an unidentified ministry spokesman said.

Tensions escalated sharply over the past week on the Korean peninsula with talk of imminent military action by the United States gaining traction following its strikes last week against Syria and amid concerns the reclusive North may soon conduct a sixth nuclear test.

From the WSJ:

Seoul Plays Down Possibility Of Pre-Emptive U.S. Strike On North Korea

By Jonathan Cheng Updated April 11, 2017 4:57 a.m. ET "SEOUL—South Korean officials sought to tamp down concerns over the possibility of a pre-emptive U.S. military strike on North Korea, as a U.S. aircraft carrier headed toward the Korean Peninsula and Pyongyang threatened to “react to any mode of war desired by the U.S.”"

It won’t be a nuclear response by the NORKs. It will be a rain of artillery shells on Seoul.

It is plain to see that insanity has broken out all over the world, including the United States. The Four Horsemen are saddling up.

The North Korean nuclear threat needs to be destroyed. Can you imagine what will be going on 10 years from now when they have missiles and many many nuclear warheads?

He must have forgotten who invested nuclear bombs and who’s used them on Asians.

If we take out this defect’s nuclear capability now, if will be much safer for the US than waiting till he actually has a bomb that can reach CA. We really should have done it when NK built its first centrifuge.

Better to precipitate a war with the NORK’s now than wait for their ICBM’s to be operational. A war at some point is inevitable and hundreds of thousands will die.

The next North Korean missile fired into the Sea of Japan will be downed by the American Navy

The act will be self defense, not agression

That nut does not need an ICBM to reach the US with nukes. He could simply load up a few of his many subs with them and park them off the west coast. In fact, there was a sub alert yesterday and planes were dispatched to search of subs off San Diego according to the press this AM.

Hopefully if they find any east of the date line, they take them out pronto.

First, I’m not convinced NK has developed a deliverable nuclear weapon.
Not just ICBM, but anything short of a barge.

Second, several of their tests, were largely HE.

Third, whose ship would they put a nuke on, to sail over here?

If NK sent a nuke this way, it would be one that they bought, not built.

Having said that, I fully expect that one of our Aegis class destroyers will knock down one of their missile tests within the next 6 months.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I read somewhere (most likely FR) that the NORKs have a satellite orbiting over the US.

That satellite could have a nuke and could create an EMP, causing more widespread havoc than a bomb blast could.

Not why the rest of the world would worry about a psycho demigod dictator with nukes?

THAAD won’t be used for warning shots.
Only in case of emergency.

I expect our warning shot to come from an Aegis class destroyer shooting down a test flight.
