Why So Many Freak Out About Donald Trump (vanity)

Perhaps the Left is truly this daft when out of power or perhaps their nutbag comments since the day it was clear Donald Trump might actually be president have left many to say things totally unhinged and devoid of reality. Yes, Bush Derangement Syndrome, followed by Palin Derangement Syndrome were bad and a sign of thing to come, it seems these were just warm-up acts for the total insane-asylum behavior we've witnessed from Trump opponents.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: conservatives; donaldtrump; liberals
Why are they so unglued? While it is always risky business trying to make sense of the senseless, just as the folks who try to rationalize suicide bombers or serial killers, I believe I understand some factors that has added to the craziness.

One actress said Trump winning the White House was worse (worse!) than when she was raped as a child. Another fantasizes about blowing up the White House. Blacklists are started for performers who dared to be seen with Donald Trump. Then there was the idiot who harangued Ivanka Trump on an airplane while she was holding her infant son.

Even the reaction to the Syrian airstrike brought out vicious comments from people who claimed they were supporters up until then. Why the venom?

The entire range of the political system from Trump supporter to Trump hater must adjust to two things that they've never really dealt with in a president. Donald Trump is self-financed and beholden to nobody - not ideology, not party, not financially. He is his own man and we simply need to trust that this political neophyte will act in what he believes will be the good of the country for the next four years.

If you're an ideologue, prepare to be disappointed. He's not going to think as "all Republicans" think, nor act as "all Republicans" act. Heck, the Republican Party tried like crazy to defeat him, so why should he care what they think? And Democrats? They were far worse.

This leaves Trump the freedom to set his own course with nobody to force their will on him which scares the bejeebles out of both the Left and the Right. Behold, an American original who won't play by the "book" either party tells him he must play by.

He is quietly getting done a number of things that many "small-government" folks have wanted to see for a long time and is not being credited for. However, the threads of government are a tightly-knit sweater and if he can't fund x because he can't pass y, what comes out of the sausage grinder may come out differently than anybody, even Trump imagined. We simply have to trust Donald Trump to be who he says he is and does what he campaigned on. So far, he has stuck to his campaign promises more than most presidents although he has the ability to veer from it at any time without paying the political price most bought-and-paid-for politicians do. His loyalist supporters are still enamored with him.

For now.

In that regard, comparisons of Trump to Hitler are valid but not in the way the Left believes. The comparison is that both rode to power on a wave of populist rhetoric and anti-status-quo venom. In no way do I think it will lead to concentration camps, religious persecution or gestapos.

But the only thing we Americans have to prevent that are Trump, himself, and, if needed, the impeachment process. That's too thin an iceberg for a lot of folks.

If you're a government-uber-allis socialist or a new-world-order fan, you probably won't like Trump based on his first months in office. You may have a right to scream like a stuck pig at the things Trump is doing. But the hyperbole said about the man isn't good for anyone's health.

I don't believe Donald Trump is Vladimir Putin's puppet.

I don't believe Donald Trump is leading us to nuclear war.

I don't believe Donald Trump is leading a secret spy ring against the American people (although his predecessor might have).

But all we really have to trust that he won't be is the man himself. I see a patriotic old-style American seeking to roll back Washington and return freedoms to the American people, not a sinister, cynical profiteer seeking to exploit weak-minded souls into setting up his own Third Reich.

Over time we will know well enough if this is America's reprieve from socialism or just a megalomaniac given the keys to the White House without understanding its power. But he's not answerable to the Republican Party, nor the Democrat Party. He's answerable to the "little people" he considers his base but if he veers form that, there's nobody to stop him, not until 2020.

Take a deep breath. Donald Trump is not your greatest fear. In fact, I think he's unraveling the all-too-powerful Washington that might have been our greatest fear if we had an honest media to report it.

To the right politics is part of life, a necessity. Most on the right want to be left alone to pursue private interests. One left, politics IS their life and their religion. It is everything to them. Their identity and their sole are defined by politics. A Trump type is an existential threat to there mental well being.

Seeing and living in a time where a man of principles and morals takes a stand is and acts on what he thinks is right?

Quite shocking to some.

It isn’t just about the President (himself). It’s more than that.

First of all, the DemocRATS believe they are the only people intelligent enough to rule. They also believe that all their ideas are superior to anything the Republicans could ever think up.

This misconception on the DemocRATS part .. causes them to freak out when the Republicans rise up and keep the DemocRATS from assuming power.

And .. then .. to have the Republicans choose A FILTHY RICH BRAGGART .. whom they pretend to abhor .. but there are more FILTHY RICH DEMOCRATS THAN THERE ARE REPUBLICANS.

So, we have the DemocRATS raging against the VOTERS because they didn’t want Hillary and the rest of the DemocRATS.

DEMOCRATS - GET OVER YOURSELF. You’re not all that great.

If it helps, go back and watch the old James Stewart classic “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” and imagine Trump as Smith on steroids.

Most Obama-Clinton voters would be considered on the left. Most of these voters are working class and lower middle class. Only a few are intellectuals or in media, entertainment, academics.

So Dems are ordinary people. These ordinary Dems are not freaking out. Politics is something they do once or twice a year. For most Dems, their daily life circles around work, family, church, reality shows and sports on TV.

For most Dems, politics is like sports. There is a season for football, basketball, baseball and politics. Off season we talk about the football draft, and the political draft. But it is off season.

As with sports, most people have a favorite team. Just as Mets fans hate Yankees and Sox fans hate Yankees, so 30% of Americans favor one political team or the other and hate the opponent.

Here in Georgia, voters switched from D to R. This is no different than the Baltimore fans realizing that the Colts left them and they need to find a new team to support.

The percentage of conservatives, the percentage of liberals, the percentage of libertarians who actually take their allegiance more seriously than that of a sports fan is really quite small.

I agree with what you were saying:

“Here in Georgia, voters switched from D to R. This is no different than the Baltimore fans realizing that the Colts left them and they need to find a new team to support.”

The important thing to remember, is that Trump is why these former Democrats, are now considering the GOP.

He is right. The GOP was getting very bad, about being sold out. Trump is not. He is for America.

That is why he is president. He is for America.

Completely.

The GOP hasn’t been just for America, in an entire generation.

The hate on the left for Trump is stronger than any other because he so squarely confronts not just their politics but their entire world view. The McConnell/Ryan types for most of the left are just caricatured as self-interested politicos doing the bidding of their masters, who are themselves caricatured as some sort of combination of Boss Hogg and Gordon Gekko. But even if McConnell and Ryan “win” elections or legislative battles, it doesn’t change the self-image of the left, the defenders of the little guys.

But Trump has painted THEM as the caricatures, the corrupt defenders of “the swamp” in D.C., supporters of corporate offshoring, endless wars in the Middle East, and importation of cheap exploitable labor at home, and he did it by communicating directly to the people, via Twitter and mass rallies all over the place. And people listened! The “little guy” that Democrats have supposedly represented for decades turned on them and elected a New York billionaire reality TV star!

Now I just get to chuckle to myself every morning as the left’s myths are dismantled one by one. For decades, all we heard was that nothing could be done to stop illegal immigration. Two months into his term, and it’s down by two-thirds. That manufacturing could never come back, refuted by announcements of new plants every week.

For the left, this is just an unmitigated disaster, and they’ll pay any price to put an end to it, even war with Russia. It’s their only hope.

Because he’s a successful, confident, white, heterosexual male capitalist and that’s public enemy #1 to the Left. They think this type of person would like it if women were barefoot and pregnant and there were a half a dozen black Africans out in a shed for slaves.
Other Leftists have convinced them of this but those other leftists are just communists spreading their propaganda.

That and as communists, they don’t believe in God or Heaven so they want to create heaven on earth which they think can only happen when everyone’s equal which of course everyone is not so they have to MAKE everyone equal and the only way to do that is to bring everyone down to the same low level. And of course since they are the smart ones for knowing all this, they should be in charge. Of course, everyone’s not equal then are they. They really haven’t thought things through.

In an otherwise well done thought-piece, this is particularly grating -- you just have to stop with the Hitler comparisons, no matter how many steps removed.

So let me suggest this to anybody who feels the sudden urge to speak of Trump & Hitler in the same article, let alone same paragraph, God forfend the same sentence:

Thank you.

Your using the emotional half of your brain instead of the logical half. My point is that, due to the way he rose to the top spot, both men are/were free to act however they wish because they were beholden to no higher earthly power. Some claim Trump is now a believing Christian and I hope this is true. He does seem to have humbled himself some from his Apprentice days. With AH (since you don’t want to mention the name), he believed he was the uncontrolled leader of the whole world, answerable to nobody.

FRiend, unless you wish to suggest that he is insane (which would demonstrate that you are insane), there is no reason -- none, zero, nada -- no reason to ever compare any American to the Nazi dictator.
Just because both men put their trousers on one leg at a time does not mean they are in any way similar.

The vast gulf between Trump and Hitler is exactly the gulf between historical American constitutional republic versus European monarchical dictatorships.
US Federal Government was founded precisely in opposition to one relatively benign monarchical dictatorship (Britain's King George) and is in no way similar to Hitler's perverted & malignant version of the German Kaiser-Reich.

So it is simply beyond insane to compare them.
Here's what is certainly comparable: Obama was our version of British pre-war Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
Let us pray that events do not force President Trump to become our Winston Churchill.
But if they do, you can be certain Mr. Trump will live up to history's requirements.

Because the MSM makes sure that they are constantly inundated with false, terrible information about DT. Many people watch the MSM on a regular basis and believe most everything they “report”. They are the US’s version of Provda and because they are dedicated to communism, one world government and therefore the destruction of our form of government they hate DT and love the democrats.
