You don’t take anything Trump says as fact. He loves to exaggerate and is a shameless optimist. He is merely being optimistic. Good for him. But Trump will be lucky to put 2 more justices on SCOTUS if he gets re-elected, which is far from a sure thing.
I think he gets another nominee this term and another if he gets a 2nd term. 3 would still be great if those leaving are Ginsberg and Stephen Breyer. That would be good.

For me the critical issue in any appointment is are they strict constructionist or not. If they seem to waffle on that issue, they are not to be trusted. Words and intent have meaning. Besides, there is a path to change the constitution, it is called an amendment. Most of the amendments of note have led to the problems we have now IMO. The popular election of senators 17th and the 16th amendment of particular concern. The fact we do not follow the tenth is also of particular concern.

My point on Thomas was his race did not make him immune from attacks. Note the confirmation was like 52-48 with a couple of GOPe voting against one of which was that POS Jeffords from Vermont. Even Sheets Byrd voted against him. Surprised he did not have his Klan outfit on when he did.

Trump had better keep his two main promises (repeal & replace Obamacare and get corporate and personal tax reform) before the mid-term elections or he may lose his Senate majority which would doom more conservative justices. Cavuto this morning said its looking bad for tax reform by August and maybe even this year at all. More promises made next year won’t go down well with the electorate when promises made for this year aren’t kept.
He only needs one more to make an originalist majority.

I detest identity politics. Why not just select the most qualified available? Also, I do not remember the libs cutting Clarence Thomas much slack when he was picked. Remember Anita Hill and the pubic hair on the Coke can?
When Obama is proven to have been an Illegitimate President then the two hags he put on the Court will have to be replaced.

Ginsburg, Kennedy and Breyer should retire due to age before Trumps term is up.
Then if Trump should be reelected, Roberts, Thomas, Alito and Sotomayor should retire due to age.
That means aat the end of 8 years efully thst means 8 constitutionalist justices with at least 20 years to serve. Kagen being the only lib left
