Hundreds of Transportation Security Administration workers at U.S. airports have reportedly failed drug and alcohol tests in recent years.
According to KGW in Portland, Ore., 858 TSA airport screeners tested positive for drugs or alcohol between 2010 and 2016. The station obtained the information through a Freedom of Information Act request.

How many are registered sex offenders?
7 years,, 858 positives.. a little over 120 a year, how many cities, airports and such? Sounds low to me.. Oh wait, how about the baggage handlers?
Let me guess...the weed was in their inactive fat cells while the booze had already been sweated out.
Guess which drug is less harmful.
Zero .. Good question tho.
Can you be a TSA screener if you are a convicted sex offender?

My kid used to drink a 30-pack to wash out meth before his pee-check.
He was not even a chem or physiology major.
Just ‘street’ info.
I do not like that I had to learn all of this. His real problem is mental, and a vengeful DA.
And I heard under Obama the scanned data, video, passenger IDs, etc went straight to CIA vaults. I figured it was just a rumor. Harhar ☺
Yeah, I would never include such things as Meth and other reactants in my comparison of weed and alcohol.
Of the two I condone in moderation I know which kills more and destroys families.

Yeah if the numbers of employees is in the 10s of thousands, this is shockingly low from what I would expect.
Now that I have an explanation I might be a little more forgiving of TSA during my next flight.
60,000 employees. The article does not say that they were all tested, or even how many were tested, so we don’t know what percentage of positive the 858 is. Random drug testing may mean they only tested 1 out of 20 workers. In which case 858 out of 3,000 tested would be a lot. This is the problem with today’s journalism — they give a number with no context.
If it were up to me, every government trough feeder, local or federal, would live under a zero-tolerance rule for drug tests. And weight limits. And parking tickets. And Death for jaywalking. Basically, I am for any excuse to eliminate the breed.
