"McCain Calls for Renewed Support for Free Syrian Army, Establishment of No-Fly Zones

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said the U.S. missile strikes on a Syrian airfield should only be the first step against the Assad regime.

...

McCain said he hopes President Donald Trump now "moves forward" with a new Syria strategy by "reinvigorating" support for the Free Syrian Army and establishing no-fly zones."

Agreed. Let's destroy ISIS (to the extent we can) then get out of there.

Syria can not become Trumps Iraq. We can't afford it, shouldn't do it and Syria has the added complication of direct Russian involvement.

A complete disaster to ramp up involvement in yet another middle east war.

No! We are not the world’s policeman. We do not have a better alternative than Assad. And the lives of our troops are too valuable to risk without a stronger national interest. I’m cheering for Assad to win and end their civil war - soon.

Is McCain aware that the Free Syrian Army kills Christians and destroys their churches? Does that matter to him?

Is not the Free Syrian Army among the terrorists? They are not different from ISIS and other terrorist groups?

Yes he is. A murderer’s heart there, for sure. But all neocons are like that.

If anyone knows about no fly zones it's McCain. Everywhere he flew was a no fly zone. ################ Indeed. The USS Forrestal comes to mind.

No McIsane, no involvement on the ground in Syria and no more arms and funds to your terrorist friends. No they can’t play with WMD’s, but if they want to kill each other off by the bushels fine.

The strike last night was for more than just Syrian consumption. Russia, Iran, China and most importantly the Norks.

If you want to stay in perpetual was John boy, you go for it, you would want to go to war with Switzerland if they sold you a broken watch.

Another fine mess. Another typical American foreign policy fiasco. We will never learn. This is becoming our undoing. My theory is if we unleash the hounds of hell of our military, make it count, make it permanent and damn sure make sure it benefits America’s safety and security. I would apply this to kicking ISIS in the teeth, not attacking a sovereign failing nation of Syria who posses zero threat.

What a moron. Hey let’s declare a no fly zone, in an area where we would have to enforce it against the Russians. Then the Russians declare a no fly zone and we have a war. The abiltity for strategic thought in the McCain family ended with his father.

I agree. And it's not only Insane McCain, but also Schumer, the guy who wouldn't applaud when Trump mentioned jobs for Americans, who attacked everything Trump did.

I get suspicious when the Dems, who have been like lemmings following Soros's talking points, suddenly approve of Trump's action.

I didn’t think much of it back in the time I was in when it came to why we were there or somewhere. Some guys there 2 maybe 3 times, but this stuff? 4-5 times sometimes rotating in and out every few months? Hell no.

There is not one muslim life in that whole region that is worth one of our men and women in uniform. I don’t care who they are or how bad they tug on the heartstrings at the drop of a hat from AP, Reuters or whoever. It just isn’t worth it.

Well put. Someone (I forget who) once said that democracies should go to war reluctantly, but then fight fiercely.

The US has been ignoring that wise advice for decades now. We casually fire a few missiles here, then we fire a few more there. We invade a little in one place, then we invade a little in another place.

Right. Good suggestion.

Maybe some reporter will pose that question in a live interview.

The “Free Syrian Army” is (a) not a force with speaking of in Syria, and a lot of what was given to it in the past fell into the hands of the many different Islamist-Salafist & Jihadist groups which are - collectively and working with each other - THE LARGEST “opposition” armed groups in Syria.

McCain - stooge of the Saudis and Turkey - KNOWS who will come out on top if the Russian’s leave and Assad is toppled. The Islamists; which is what Turkey and the Saudis want. They also want the Saudi Arabia-Jordan-Syria-Turkey oil pipeline to Europe they couldn’t get from Assad. Ah, now you see the picture.
