OPSEC?
Should this information be made public?
It’s awfully specific, and clearly shows where we are weak.
Didn’t anyone ever read Sun Tzu?
Never, never, never disclose your strengths or weaknesses.
As long as they are inclusive and tolerant what difference does it make?
Anyone who gives the world combat-readiness info out needs to be up on charges.
It’s not really a surprise.
They were cancelling training last year and putting off firearms qualifications due to lack of ammo.
We are broke. The USSR forces in 1989 were better situated than the US is today.
Perhaps we should stop trying to project forces to places that don’t matter. And it might be a good idea not to send troops to countries where we are not threatened, nor where we have been invited.
Thanks Obama!
Now just waiting for that sneak attack from Canada.
One of the buffers between a conflict and nuke war was a standing military. Without one the jump to using nukes IMO is at a high level.
It’s true. Years of Obama’s deep budget cuts, approved by the Republicans I might add, have brought military readiness down to horrific levels. Then came sequestration on top of the budget cuts. The result is that our military is in a very, very sorry state. It’s not bluster.
The only time we would need a force as immediate as one day would be a homeland invasion here...
If we plan to invade another country or region, the troops would be assembled, trained and ready when we go...
Very seldom does anything happen overnight except in movies like “Red Dawn”...
Stfu you bunch of dumb chits
So a secession of several red states could build up an army that could quickly be larger and stronger the the current federal standing army? Hmmm....
But our weakness is our strength. The more pathetic and incapable of defending ourselves we are, the more the world will like and respect us. Right Obama?
20 year olds now are safe space hiding girly men.
It's not only our military that is not prepared to fight.
Does anyone at all grasp the idea you don’t divulge information like this?
By tomorrow this time, this should be an ex Army General.
Granted we aren’t likely to have forces landing on our shores, but this is just childish talk.
Hell, I’m not in the armed forces, but you’d never catch me making a statement like this in public.
You go up the chain of command discretely.
If you think you have a very pressing problem, then contact the President. Don’t be surprised if you lose your job, but you’ll have done your duty.
We could also work with Russia, Israel, China, Japan and most EU countries and nuke everything within fallout zone to get rid of 99.99 percent of the filth making the world suck.
The local cops can kneecap the remaining islamo filth.
Invade Brando Island (atoll), arrest Hussein, put him in Gitmo’ for Islamic treason.
The US Army has a grand tradition of getting caught flat footed.
It took 11 full months before the US Army was able to commence offensive operations in World War II. (The Marines were able to commence offensive operations in only 8 months, but arguable weren’t quite ready. And that’s with the country having had a 2 year lead time before hostilities commenced.
In Korea, they did a little better, but they were able to call up a largely veteran reserve force that didn’t require extensive training, and it only took about 3 months to respond.
Although a few engineering units saw action more quickly, it was almost a full year from declaration of war to offensive ground action in World War I.
When America dials 911, the Marines answer the phone.
There are 4 complete Marine Expeditionary Units in the water right now. All are combined arms, and full Battalion Landing Teams.
They can land anywhere in the world in 24 hours or less and deliver more violence than any armed force in the world.
Any of you ever heard of disinformation?
