Thomas Sowell has an excellent essay on the ‘Live Ball’ controversy. He gives a great contrast between the ‘hitters’ before Ruth and the ‘sluggers’ after.
I know that all too well, having Mississippi ancestry. And it’s not just Ivy League snobs, drop by any thread concerning the South and you’ll see plenty of the same hate being spewed here by a consistent group of oddballs.
